Virtual Desktop Analyst
Description
The Virtual Desktop Analyst will be responsible for installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of Storage and Virtualization hardware and software in a 24x7 enterprise environment, specifically around VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure). Participates in all aspects of technical research, planning, design and documentation for assigned projects. Analyze customer requirements to provide highly available, secure solutions to meet service level objectives. Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours work as required by system implementations, outages or upgrades.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in the design and implementation of projects involving existing and new technical solutions; responsibilities include planning, scheduling and coordinating the project
• Troubleshoot storage/virtualization hardware and software problems; coordinate resolution with internal technical resources and vendors
• Communicate with management on the status of projects and problem resolution efforts; initiate request to escalate problems if needed
• Maintain and set standards for documentation of server and storage equipment on an on-going basis; include documentation updates as an integral part of every project
• Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies, recommend evaluation of technologies that would benefit the Technology infrastructure
• Monitor and analyze the capacity and performance of systems and make recommendations for improvements as necessary
• Participate in the design of data protection and disaster recovery technologies in a multi-site environment
• Research and implement automated processes to improve operational efficiency
• Provide training on new deployments to other Technology staff; outline how each team will be affected related to on-going support of the system
• Coordinate vendor efforts in conjunction with system implementations and project plans
• Assist in the problem resolution as required for storage/virtualization hardware and software problems; coordinate resolution with internal technical resources and vendors
• Implement and participate in the design of systems and server infrastructure for new solutions following procedures listed in the Infrastructure Policies and Procedures manual as well as the Information Protection Policy
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned
• Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION:
• Typically requires a bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience. A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other technical field
• IT Systems Administration experience in an enterprise environment
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and multiple tasks while meeting agreed upon objectives
• Good technical problem-solving skills
• Strong customer service skills; experience required
• Good working knowledge of LAN protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, VLANs and Ethernet
• Basic understanding of data communication topologies, protocols, and equipment
• Strong knowledge of desktop and server virtualization technologies such as ESXi, Horizon View
• Working knowledge of LAN and server hardware and networking equipment
• Good working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server operating systems
• Good working knowledge of directory technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory, and LDAP
• Strong working knowledge of storage technologies
• Good working knowledge of communication/data encryption technologies, multi-tier application deployments, and relational database systems
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels and light to heavy traffic. An employee in this position:
• Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
• Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
• Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms
• Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
• Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
• Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone
• Must be able to exchange accurate information
