Sr IT Project Manager

Position Description
The Senior IT Project Manager (Sr. IT PM) will be part of the zColo Segment within Zayo and responsible for project managing all aspects of implementing a new Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tool utilizing Nlyte. Nlyte will be utilized for real-time capacity management, service details, and customer utilization across all of zColo’s 45 data centers interfacing with existing and new Building Management Systems (BMS) and Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM) capabilities. Nlyte will also be required to interface with Salesforce and Tranzact. The Sr. IT PM will own all aspects of implementing Nlyte including end-to-end milestone management, budget tracking & reporting, and identification & resolution of issues to ensure on time, on budget and on specification completion of the Nlyte installation project. The Sr. IT PM will be responsible to track & report real-time updates and have detailed knowledge of assigned projects. An effective Sr. IT PM will work closely with engineers, software developers, software architects, Product Managers, Salesforce developers, and others. The Sr. IT PM will manage a team of between 1-3 people reporting to him/her at any time.
Responsibilities
Overall Project Management
- Develop overall project plan, including key milestones and work streams
- Provide project plan updates
- Provide budget forecast updates
- Coordinate with multiple departments, ensuring project tasks are completed on schedule regardless of reporting hierarchy
- Critical Path identification and key issue resolution
- Vendor relationship management
- Anticipation, mitigation and escalation of project issues as required
- Management of direct reports and ensure that all metrics are met. On-time, and on-budget tracking are critical company measurements for customer deliveries
- Determine which internal group within zColo will own maintenance / upgrades to Nlyte going forward
Transition Management and Documentation
- Develop migration plans outlining the upgrades required to enable Nlyte at all zColo Data Centers
- Coordinate the required process and operational changes to integrate Nlyte into the company
- Ensure that documentation is created and handed off to the necessary stakeholders / owners
Integration with Existing Systems
- Work with internal teams to ensure that Nlyte can communicate (read/write) with Salesforce
- Work with internal teams to ensure that Nlyte can communicate (read/write) with Tranzact
- Work with internal teams to ensure that Nlyte can communicate (read/write) with BMS/BCM systems
Project Budget
- Set up and manage budgets, purchase requests/orders, invoicing and documentation of receivables
- Pro-actively manage budget variances and overruns over PM team
- Notify management of potential overruns
- Provide analysis of cost overruns
- Owns notifying, and receiving approval from, management of incremental costs
Communication
- Set up periodic status calls with key stakeholders to notify of progress & issues
- Daily calls if required to manage critical path items that could severely jeopardize completion timeline
- Management of project related change controls
- Engage with stakeholders – proactively and reactively – to ensure Nlyte DCIM implementation meets their needs
- Develop training sessions for all stakeholders / users of Nlyte
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering field preferred
- Project management experience, preferably in the telecommunications / data center industry
- Working knowledge of Datacenter infrastructure - Power, Cooling, Security, Communications
- Working knowledge or strong experience with DCIM tools, preferably Nlyte
- Experience managing projects > $500K
- Experience in managing teams of 2+ employees
- Must be able to manage multiple aggressive schedules
- Working knowledge or strong experience of Salesforce.com
- Business minded and able to maintain a commercial focus
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides
- Travel, including between Zayo offices in Colorado, may be required - Must have current US driver’s license and passport
- The employee will be required to meet with internal stakeholders to review project scope
