We believe home is the most important place on earth and are embarking on a journey to redefine how people care for their homes. Angi is an amazing place to build your dream career, join us—we cannot wait to welcome you home!

About the role:

Are you an engineering manager who loves to build great teams and great technology? Angi® is looking for a manager to work with our newly forming infrastructure team, a group that will focus on keeping all user-facing services and other Angi® production systems running smoothly.

Our team is a hybrid of operators and software engineers that are leveraging engineering principles, operational experience, and automation to our environments. You will help shape our infrastructure and build the foundation our team relies on for the rapid, reliable delivery of our product. We’ll rely on you to instill best practices for building scalable distributed systems, with a keen focus on observability and fault tolerance.

We are looking for experienced Infrastructure Managers who meet the following criteria:

You have some experience leading a high-performing team of infrastructure, devops and site reliability engineers including managing and shipping cross-functional or multi-team projects.

You've done infrastructure development with some popular containerization technologies like Kubernetes, Mesos or Nomad (we use Kubernetes), rising to at least the Senior Engineer level or equivalent.

You have a breadth of knowledge across our infrastructure and application stack (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Python, Ruby, Go, Java, Spring Boot, Oracle, Postgres, Coherence, Redis, Elasticsearch inside a hybrid cloud).

You have a track record of leveraging automation wherever and whenever; and you have an appreciation for software engineering best practices, such as infrastructure as code, testing and continuous delivery.

You're endlessly curious about the technologies your team works with and strive to keep your technical knowledge sharp — but you also feel comfortable knowing your greatest impact won't be as a technical contributor.

You place a tremendous value on good communication and appreciate async- and remote-friendly working practices. You know how to pick the right communication tool for the problem at hand (chat, video, email, etc.). You value diversity, equity, and inclusion, and you understand how good communication practices intersect with efforts to build a diverse and inclusive culture.

You understand methodologies like Agile, XP, and Lean, and see their value, but don't believe there's only one right way to get work done.

You have an interest in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new engineers, and you like the idea of crafting an interview process that is both less painful and more informative than the industry average.

As a Manager of Infrastructure you will:

  • Be part of an on-call rotation to respond to incidents and provide support for software engineers across Angi initiative teams.
  • Build visibility into SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, dependency graphs to reduce operational burden or toil.
  • Drive on instrumentation patterns to alert on symptoms and not on outages leveraging our monitoring stack of Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch.
  • Run our infrastructure with Terraform and Kubernetes.
  • Use a data-driven approach to findings, turn into repeatable actions and then into automation.
  • Design, build and maintain core infrastructure pieces that allow Angi to scale to meet its market demand.
  • Plan and shape the growth of Angi’s ever-evolving infrastructure.
  • Build the best team through recruiting, mentoring, and growing team members.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from 170k - 210k, plus bonus and equity, commensurate with experience and performance.
  • Full medical, dental, vision package to fit your needs
  • Flexible vacation policy; work hard and take time when you need it
  • Pet discount plans & retirement plan with company match (401K)
  • The rare opportunity to work with sharp, motivated teammates solving some of the most unique challenges and changing the world
