DAT Solutions is looking for a Manager of Mergers, Acquisitions and Emerging Opportunities to join our growing  DAT team in Denver, CO. 

In this role, you will identify and/or create new business opportunities for the largest freight  marketplace in North America. DAT operates at the center of an industry populated with well funded startups developing new ways to move, match, and track truckload freight. You will be  DAT’s eyes and ears with these startups, investors, and founders to identify and analyze  innovative or disruptive markets, business models, and technologies. For threats and  opportunities, you will develop financial models to quantify the impact to DAT. Leading the  development of DAT's strategy in these new or adjacent markets, you will manage the pipeline  of potential acquisitions and partners. 

Candidate Profile 

  • Demonstrated track record of identifying and evaluating disruptive market trends and new technologies.
  • Investor mindset; experience in valuation of both early stage and mature companies through financial analysis.
  • Comfortable working with key decision-makers from potential partners, founders, investors, and acquisition targets around the industry.
  • Experienced relationship manager: ability to establish and maintain rapport with contacts across trucking/transportation, and tech industries.
  • Comfort level working with senior executives to communicate evolving market trends and technologies as they relate to business strategy.

What You’ll Do 

  • Analyze industry announcements, developments, and product launches to identify threats and opportunities for DAT’s core and emerging business.
  • Attend industry events to stay informed of emerging technologies and startup business models.
  • Develop strategic recommendations for DAT’s freight marketplace (DAT One) and analytics (DAT iQ) based on threats/opportunities.
  • Identify potential partners or acquisitions that address capability gaps that DAT must close quickly to compete and win.
  • Maintain DAT’s partnership and M&A pipeline, including preliminary financial models, to fuel strategic growth objectives.
  • Assist the VP of Strategy Execution and Roper Technologies Legal, Finance, and M&A teams through acquisition lifecycle.

The Skills and Experience You’ll Need 

  • 4+ years’ experience in finance or consulting roles with progression in size/scope.
  • Exceptional analytical skills across multiple types of data, from financial data to product data.
  • Strategic mindset to “see around the corner” and help develop navigate for DAT
  • Experience developing plans to achieve company or business unit strategies.
  • Ability to both write and present clear and actionable analyses.
  • Experience working with senior leadership as a thought partner.
  • Great emotional intelligence: ability to build relationships with influencers and leaders around the industry.
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the trucking industry.
  • Existing network within the freight tech startup community.
  • Passion for designing and driving industry-shaping change.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. MBA preferred.

(Colorado only) In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $136k, plus benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience.
