About the Role

The Insurance Coordinator will be responsible for providing direct support to both patients and orthodontists via phone, email and online chat.

Responsibilities of the Insurance Coordinator include:

  • Verifying insurance benefits using electronic, web, phone, and fax back methods

  • Coordinating insurance benefits when multiple plans exist

  • Managing communications with patients and practice staff

  • Discussing financial arrangements

  • Obtaining pre-authorizations

  • Verifying dental billing codes, document narratives and submit claims

  • Following up on denied claims and/or in cases when expected payments are outstanding

  • Posting insurance payments

  • Communicating with patients when insurance discrepancies occur

  • Processing payment plan adjustments

  • Supporting patient collections

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and solve poorly defined problems

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Documents

  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and active listening

  • Must exhibit empathy and compassion for patients.

  • Ability to adapt to change quickly, and show a sense of urgency

  • Strong judgment and decision making abilities

  • Natural curiosity with a strong aptitude to learn quickly

  • Very strong technical aptitude

  • Experience with processing medical insurance claims and/or eligibility checks  (orthodontic or dental claims management preferred) is a plus

  • Prior experience managing claims while working as a Front Desk Receptionist or Treatment Coordinator is a plus

This position will include a competitive salary and benefits, and may be eligible to earn stock options based on individual contribution and company performance. Compensation commensurate with experience.
