A Brief Overview
Responsibilities include installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of voice, data and wireless networks in an enterprise 24x7 environment. Participate and lead technical projects, research and documentation with a primary focus on Branch, Campus, and Cloud networks. Must be able to participate in after-hours work as required for on call and system implementations.
What you will do
- Maintain network infrastructure including Data Center, Campus, Wireless (WLAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN).
- Troubleshoot WAN hardware, software, and circuit connectivity problems; coordinate resolution with internal technical resources and vendors.
- Manage implementation projects involving existing and new technical solutions; responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and coordinating all aspects of the project.
- Maintain documentation of Wide Area Network equipment such as routers and switches on an on-going basis; include documentation updates as an integral part of every project.
- Coordinate vendor efforts in conjunction with systems implementations and project plans.
- Provide escalation support for Technical Support for problems.
- Resolve escalated issues or provide guidance to assist Technical Support staff in problem resolution.
- Monitor capacity and performance of all segments of the network including Data Center, Campus, Wireless, Voice and Wide Area Networks; make recommendation for increasing capacity as necessary.
- Make recommendations to Management as necessary to keep projects on schedule.
- Communicate with management on the status of projects and problem resolution efforts.
- Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies, recommend evaluation of emerging technologies that would benefit the Infrastructure.
- Respond to audit requests as required.
- Basic knowledge of change control process, and security practices and techniques
- Meet all assigned departmental SLO's.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy.
Minimum Requirements
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements
Preferred Requirements
- CCNA active certification or 10+ years experience in a Cisco environment
- Network administration experience in an enterprise 24x7 environment
- Voice administration experience in an enterprise 24x7 environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and multiple tasks while meeting agreed upon objectives.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Strong foundation in the principles, design and implementation of TCP/IP networks including OSI model, routing, VLAN's, QoS tuning and capacity management.
- Strong knowledge with layer 2 and layer 3 technologies with a focus on Cisco networking equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, ISE, and network load balancers.
- Strong knowledge of routing protocols including Open Short Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
- Working knowledge in the principles, design and implementation of voice technology, including VoIP, SIP and voice gateways.
- Working knowledge of WLAN routing, switching, packet analysis, signal optimization and general wireless connectivity.
- Ability to administer and troubleshoot WAN, MPLS, SIP, internet and wave connections from T1 up to 100 GB Able to implement and maintain security measures on various network devices.
- General understanding of virtual servers and operating systems.
- Working knowledge of systems monitoring and configuration systems, NCM, Stealth watch, SolarWinds.
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and scripting platforms, such as Ansible.
- General understanding of encryption technologies, web services and database systems.
- Strong customer service skills; experience required.

- Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
- Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms
- Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
- Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
- Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone
- Must be able to exchange accurate information
Salary Range
$101,000.00 To $118,000.00
