Eligibility
The Zayo internship program is open to graduating seniors and current students. All internships are paid, full-time work experiences. All internships are from June 7* - August 13, 2021 (*start date flexible to academic obligations)
Position Description
The Communications Intern will be responsible for providing general support in maintaining internal and external communication channel initiatives and projects; executing on day-to-day tasks, overall strategic initiatives and other responsibilities as needed.
Responsibilities
Manage social media accounts, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
Assist in developing compelling external communications, including announcements, online articles, press releases, blogs, social media, videos, briefings, talking points and presentations
Maintain internal content calendars and content libraries
Assist in research and development of content for communications and marketing initiatives
Support the development of a variety of internal communications content
Support tracking of communication metrics
Administrative duties including but not limited to: calendar coordination, invoice processing, event support, content organization, etc.
Qualifications
Must be a strong writer, AP-Style knowledge and experience is a must - there will be a skill assessment for candidates selected for final consideration.
Strong preference towards candidates able to provide a portfolio of work from prior positions or other experience. Writing for a school (university) newspaper of keen interest.
Social media savvy beyond personal channels. Previous community management experience is a plus.
Presentation development skills with experience in PowerPoint and/or Google Slides.
Design skills using Adobe or similar software is a plus but not required.
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to help with team organization and task-management.
Proactive thinker: Must be able to take feedback on one task and carry through to other tasks without being explicitly told
Previous professional experience preferred
