Eligibility
The Zayo internship program is open to graduating seniors and current students. All internships are paid, full-time work experiences. All internships are from June 3* - August 9, 2019 (*start date flexible to academic obligations).
Position Description
The Financial Planning and Analysis Intern provides critical support to the finance team by delivering the foundation for high-level analysis corresponding to value creation of the company. The intern will apply financial concepts to support ongoing EBITDA initiatives related to cost savings strategies and other plans that drive IRR growth in addition to supporting the finance team with month/quarter-end assistance, SOX projects, ad hoc projects, expense/financial statement reviews, variance analysis, earning supplement preparation, and integration support.
Responsibilities
Support decision-making and strategic planning activities, serving as a key resource to senior decision-makers in the business
Track and monitor repair and relocation events with an emphasis on identifying and managing associated cost recovery
Reconcile Salesforce expense records to accounting records to ensure that all expenses are captured and managed; resolve discrepancies with support
Prepare and maintain in-depth analysis, modeling, monthly/quarterly/annual planning and forecasting as well as reporting of financial and business performance to support company-wide financial and operational goals, initiatives and objectives
Support Zayo’s corporate development efforts including research of Zayo’s current and potential markets, competitive landscape, financial modelling, analysis of partnerships and acquisition opportunities
Develop and implement procedures to manage monthly business analyses with a focus on improving and promoting quality as demonstrated by accuracy and thoroughness of analysis
Drive implementation of company policy and develop appropriate procedures to deliver change through cross functional projects
Assist with month-end and quarter-end close and reporting responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of internal presentation of financial and operational business results and analysis
Help develop and drive ongoing initiatives focused on cost optimization and appropriate expense and capital recognition and accounting treatment
Other financial and operational analysis and duties as needed
Qualifications
Studying/degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Basic understanding of financial statements, modelling, accounting principles, and of key financial metrics and indicators
Experience with Salesforce preferred, not required
Process oriented, strong analytical aptitude, superior problem solving skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
Strong sense of teamwork, positive attitude, and willingness to support others in supporting group objectives
Fast learner, high degree of integrity, self-motivated, able to thrive in fast paced environment and manage multiple ongoing projects
