HR Benefits Specialist

As HR Benefits Specialist, you are a key component of employee well-being and play a vital part in creating a workplace where employees are happy and engaged. The primary purpose of this role is to manage and administer benefit programs for Peaksware and its subsidiary companies - TrainingPeaks, TrainHeroic, MakeMusic and Alfred Music.

Related responsibilities include welcoming and on-boarding new hires, maintaining/process improving HRIS systems & data, overseeing file feeds between HRIS systems and our carriers, and compliance tracking and reporting. The HR Specialist liaisons with employees, benefits carriers, insurance brokers, compliance agencies and vendors to help provide excellent benefits services to Peaksware employees.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with benefit brokers and carriers to determine annual planning of all employee benefit offerings:
    • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Plans
    • Ancillary Plans including Life, AD&D and Disability Plans
    • Supplemental Plans including Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity
    • Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts
    • Open-Enrollment planning and coordination
  • Administer above benefit offerings, as well as:
    • COBRA
    • Leaves of Absence (FMLA/STD/LTD)
    • Paid Time Off (PTO/Sick/Bereavement/Jury Duty)
    • Workers Compensation
  • Maintain HRIS systems and research innovative approaches to streamline and improve processes
  • Coordinate wellness activities to include annual health risk assessment process and onsite flu-shot clinic
  • Resolve employee benefit related issues
  • Reconcile monthly insurance vendor invoices and submit to A/P for timely payment; resolve any discrepancies with carriers
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Peaksware 401k Plan for employees, third-party administrator and provider for day-to-day plan administration

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree and four years benefits experience, or any combination of relevant education and experience
  • Familiarity with pertinent laws, regulations and filing and compliance requirements affecting payroll, employee benefits programs, leaves of absence, workers' compensation, FMLA, and EEO
  • Experience using various HRIS platforms
  • Advanced computer skills including data entry, Google Apps Suite, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong initiative and ability to anticipate issues proactively
  • Ability to succeed in an evolving and changing environment
  • Proven track record of reliability and responsibility
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational / administrative skills
  • Discreet and able to handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately
  • Ability to interact with individuals from diverse levels and backgrounds within the company and to provide excellent customer service

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with Paycom
  • Demonstrated experience managing benefits in a company of 300+ employees
  • Knowledge of self-funded benefit plans and HSA’s
  • Sense of humor and fun personality

Reporting:

Reports directly to the Director of People Operations currently, but may report into the People Operations Manager in the future.
