What you’ll do:

  • The CHRO and Vice President of Employee Services drives business success through the development and facilitation of human capital strategies, philosophies and programs to enable execution of the business strategy, change management initiatives and continuous improvement. At Pinnacol this includes creating a top workplace culture that supports the mission of a Revolution in Caring. 
  • In addition, this position carries the responsibility to show empathy, selflessness, collaboration, and flexibility while nurturing a special culture. This individual will have the responsibility to protect the culture of the organization while innovating, stabilize the organization during disruption plus show an aptitude to adapt quickly to sudden new challenges to the organization and its team members.
  • The position is a Trusted Advisor to the CEO, Executive and Leadership.

What you can expect:

  • Facilitates the development of human capital strategy and programs across the company.
  • Applies best practices human capital strategies and initiatives that create competitive advantage and are aligned with business strategies.
  • Defines measures of human capital effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Utilizes Human Centered Design and Agile methodologies to provide understanding of human capital needs and test new ideas
  • Collects regular qualitative and quantitative feedback on the effectiveness of human capital processes, practices and initiatives.
  • Benchmarks overall company human capital performance against comparable companies.
  • Helps team members understand and adapt to major organizational change.
  • Drives culture change to ensure workforce alignment, engagement and retention.
  • Builds efficient HR processes, systems and infrastructure.
  • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance with policies, compensation programs, health, welfare and retirement plans and workforce actions.
  • Work closely with the Incident Management Team, Ethics Committee and governance and ethics committee of the board on aspects of compliance, ethics and/or risk issues. In partnership with legal counsel, assesses, monitors and addresses all aspects of people related risk.
  • Works closely with the Board, Board Compensation Committee and their advisors regarding executive total rewards, In addition, works with the board on an overall organizational dashboard relative to the key aspects of the employee experience, including but not limited to culture, leadership, recruitment, retention and succession planning.
  • Provides leadership, development and oversight to the human resources, learning and development and the apprenticeship program.
  • Ensures purchasing and capital improvement activities are conducted in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Enables high levels of communication and collaboration among team members via social media.
  • Enables high levels of customer service delivery
  • Promotes an organizational culture that is aligned with Pinnacol’s mission, vision and values.
  • Leverages internal and external relationships to create value.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

  • Provide leadership, direction and development of all teams within Employee Services.
  • Maximize the focus and performance of assigned teams. Establish clear individual and team goals and performance expectations, hold staff accountable for behaviors and results and evaluate staff performance.
  • Responsible for all management functions of teams including hiring, performance management, timekeeping, discipline, etc.
  • Ensure team members have the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities by providing training and educational resources; make the best use of available resources
  • Develop, coach and mentor direct reports and others in business, technical and leadership skills
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation within teams and throughout the organization
  • Operate in alignment with company policies
  • Provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence for all staff. Embrace an open-door policy and is accessible to all staff.

  • Demonstrates flexibility, innovation and ability to perform in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment.

Education or Formal Training

  • Undergraduate degree plus demonstrated advanced learning through education achievement and/or certifications.

Experience

  • 15 years of general management experience, 10 years at executive or senior level.
  • 10 years of experience leading human resources

Working Environment/Physical Activities

This position may be required to work from a home or in-building environment with occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.  Must be able to attend meetings and industry/community events outside of regular business hours.

When meeting the requirements, the minimum of what you can expect for this position is $220,000. The actual offer will vary depending on the candidate's skills and competencies.
