Altvia is looking for a Software Development Manager with strong Technical and People leadership experiences to guide our software development teams as we begin the next phase of Altvia’s evolution to become the most insightful and data driven alternative investment platform on the market.

Day-to-day, our Managers help their teams reach their potential through mentorship, partner with Product to make design and technical decisions, inform stakeholders across the business of progress and help their teams overcome roadblocks that they face. Organizationally, you’ll be supporting Product work that is assigned to specific Engineering teams. As a leader, you will set an example for positive, collaborative communications across stakeholders, and have a strong focus on supporting your peers and our customers. You must also have a passion to help ensure high quality software to maintain the trust of our highly valued customers as well as have a strong desire for continuous improvement that pushes you to learn and become involved in how our software is developed. Your primary responsibilities include: Ensuring teams effectively plan, execute and deliver on sprint targets, own scum ceremonies for your teams, drive continuous improvement of processes and methodologies.  You will also drive continuing improvements in software delivery and deployment pipelines.

We believe agility isn't just about sprints and planning days, it's the way we think, plan, and prioritize to make sure we deliver what is needed, when it's needed.

Our products are all cloud-based, with a mixture of technologies that include Salesforce, Ruby on Rails, Typescript and React, with some of the applications hosted on Amazon AWS. Some of the tools we use include Slack and JIRA.

What You Will Do:

  • You will cultivate an atmosphere of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor.
  • You will diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.
  • You will be responsible for the execution and delivery of one to two development teams of 4-5 developers each.
  • You will work with product management team members to help resolve priorities and the roadmap for your team.
  • You will meet 1-1 with team members on a regular basis.
  • You will have a background and familiarity with development operations tools and processes and an ability to drive efficient and effective DevOps processes

Qualifications:

  • A Software leader that is passionate, empathetic and pragmatic - you are the type of leader that can drive technical and operational decisions to reduce complexity.
  • A leader who puts the team and its goals above yourself and does so with an empathetic and inclusive mindset. 
  • Management experience in an Agile, startup growth environment where you lead teams to build and support critical PaaS or SaaS products.
  • Experience as a technical lead on successful, large-scale software projects.
  • Experience in fast moving, dynamic growth environments
  • Passion for good engineering practices, new technologies, and improving processes
  • Proven People Leadership skills - we need you to be a mentor and a champion for our teams! 
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with Scripting languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, Python)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • 2+ years leading integrated, high performing development teams in a startup or rapid growth environment.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with ETL processes highly desirable
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus
  • A background or experience in financial services or financial technology is helpful in the role

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, in the range of $140,000-$160,000 annually, DOE.
