Skupos is the data platform for the convenience retail industry. Retailers, distributors, and brands connect to the Skupos network to create value from disparate data. Convenience retail is a long-standing industry with limited technology adoption, but is responsible for more revenue annually than all of e-commerce in the United States. Skupos leverages our massive datasets to build tools that help the industry succeed.

Skupos software integrates at a retailer’s point of sale, generates analytical insights, and enables promotion execution and performance tracking. For distributors and CPG brands, we provide real-time visibility into consumer purchasing decisions and enable automated promotional discounts at the point of sale. Role.  An overview of the opportunity:

We are open to hiring either an Analyst or Senior Analyst, based on experience levels. Your role will have wide-ranging responsibilities focused on creating valuable insights for our enterprise (CPG) customers and driving profitable growth for our business, and will span 2 primary objectives: 

  1. Partnering with our Enterprise teams to provide insights and recommendations on promotion, distribution, and pricing solutions for our large CPG customers. You will be a thought-leader to our Sales & Client Management teams on how to translate a brand’s promotional strategy into clear success criteria by identifying, measuring and analyzing promotional performance as well as designing and recommending innovative fact-based solutions to deliver value to our customers. You enjoy thinking through the questions that prove business value, identifying the data needed to answer those questions, crunching numbers, and clearly articulating results. Your skill in drawing conclusions from data will help our customers measure the improvement that Skupos drives in their retail, pricing, and promotional operations. Given your customer-facing analysis, you should have a strong business acumen and be able to interface well with customers in person or on the phone to give voice to your findings. 
  2. Partner cross-functionally with leaders in Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Product to track internal performance and provide recommendations on how to build a business to scale and improve performance. In many ways, you will act as a management consultant to internal stakeholders by identifying opportunity areas, building out a strategy of addressing those opportunities, and assisting with executing on that strategy. This will require thinking through the key success metrics for performance tracking, identifying how to get the required data, converting the data into clear recommendations, and partnering across the organization to get alignment and put your strategy in place. 

Given that this role will be involved in analyzing performance across the entirety of the business, you must be excited about thinking holistically on how to build a business to scale.

Team.  The team and our people:

The role will be part of our Business Intelligence team, which is a cross-functional group that works on different business problems across the company. As a CPG Brand Strategy Analyst on the team, you will play a critical role in building out the framework that defines “measuring success” for our CPG Brand customers. We strive to learn fast, think fast, and move fast. People development is a top priority, so frequent feedback is expected and encouraged from all team members.

Responsibilities.  Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying key success metrics, determining the best process to get the data, and analyzing performance to report key insights and promotion success to Brands
  • Analyzing detailed transactional data to develop profitable growth recommendations for Skupos CPG brand customers and prospects (e.g., market share growth, promotion effectiveness, pricing compliance, shopper insights).
  • Building creative and compelling visualizations that can be used to bring insights to life.
  • Working closely with Enterprise Sales and Enterprise Client Management to develop scalable tools and processes for communicating value to customers and prospects
  • Tracking KPIs and reporting on customer performance using Skupos technology.
  • Monitoring internal operational performance to provide clear recommendations on how to build a scalable organization
  • Devising strategies based on your recommendations and assisting cross-functionally in executing on those strategies 

Skills.  We are looking for:

  • Required:
      • Deep expertise in the CPG industry, with intuitive understanding of how brands leverage data to inform pricing, promotion, and distribution decisions
      • Top notch analytical skills and a strategic mindset. Excellent written and oral communication skills to articulate complex ideas in simple ways.
      • Basic Understanding of SQL
      • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across functions.
      • Self motivation, process-driven perspective, and detail orientation.
      • Advanced proficiency with Excel and data analysis
      • Proficiency with presentation tools (Powerpoint, Google Slides, etc.)
      • Ability to thrive and adapt in a high growth and rapidly changing startup environment.
  • Nice To Have:
    • Advanced SQL or Python experience
    • Experience with Tableau, Mode or other data visualization platforms
    • Familiarity with convenience / small-format retail channel channels

Experience.  Candidates should have:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Business, Economics, Finance, Analytics, or a related field.
    • 2-4 years of experience working in a CPG company with a focus on commercial planning, price and revenue growth, category management, or trade marketing
    • Experience analyzing pricing decisions, promotion deployment, lift measurement, etc.
    • Strong exposure to data/analytics, with a track record of delivering business-minded results.


Salary is based on location and experience.

Salary range in Denver, CO: $75,000 - $85,000

A Note on Covid...
