Lead Photographer
Denver, CO - Your job is to lead the photographic vision and execution of Artifact Uprising. With a keen awareness of emerging trends and styles, you’ll push AU’s photography in a fresh and relatable direction. You act as a mentor for other photographers (internal and external) and provide constructive direction and feedback. The role requires a balance of creative and production-oriented thinking as you will also be responsible for managing the shoot calendar and photography budget—the ability to function equally in both domains is key. A comfort with video creation and editing, and a passion to explore moving picture is required. Your primary focus will be on still photography, but proficiency with motion can help grow AU in a direction that continues to evolve. You will think conceptually and create relentlessly with a passion, detail, and dedication to the craft.
Responsibilities
- STRATEGY
- You will be responsible for the strategy of all brand photography and execution of overseeing its creation (this includes both studio and lifestyle assets).
- You will be responsible for understanding industry trends, and help guide the photography of the company in a fresh and relatable direction.
- You’ll be fully integrated in the day-to-day operations of the business, and responsible for communication and collaboration around visual assets with stakeholders in all departments.
- PLANNING
- You will work closely with the Creative Design Director to create a visual direction on a quarterly basis to guide the aesthetic of AU’s photography.
- Your work will help support the goals and needs of overall campaign objectives, while operating within AU’s brand standards and guidelines.
- You will be responsible for coordinating with other departments to create timelines pertaining to product innovations or launches.
- You will work closely with designers to communicate needs and deliverables.
- EXECUTION
- You will own responsibility for the photography and video captured and the process of editing from creation to handoff to the design department.
- Your work will translate the quality of AU physical products into visual assets that communicate that quality across all touchpoints.
- You will help ensure all outward facing photography adheres to our brand guidelines and elevates our overall brand communication.
- You will help create and maintain an organized asset management structure.
- You will help mentor other photographers (in-house and out) Guiding them to understand the AU brand and aesthetic.
Qualifications
- Portfolio demonstrating work (must be submitted with resume in order to be considered for position)
- Bachelor’s Degree or formal course work in Photography or similar field
- Proven experience in ECommerce photography, digital cameras, and lighting
- Experience shooting and retouching product imagery as well as high technical proficiency in Lightroom and Photoshop
- Extensive knowledge of Canon 5D cameras
- A positive attitude and an eagerness to learn
- Experience in a variety of digital capture formats, knowledge of image file management, file storage, and server organization is a plus.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at once as well as working independently.
- Ability to meet deadlines and make decisions in a fast-paced environment

- Detail-oriented and creative
- Portfolio that demonstrates expertise in both still life and video experience
