We are looking for a smart, driven, and collaborative technical lead who believes the time is now to make a difference. The Role

Helio is seeking an experienced technical lead our team designing and building our energy technology platform. This includes the platform that is in service to the transformational Helio digital customer experience. In this role, you will lead the rapid development and iteration of the Helio energy management system, which is at the core of our business. You will help hire and mobilize a group of talented technical team members in realization of the customer journey from sale to inspection, installation, and monitoring of devices. This is a unique opportunity to join the technology leadership team at the ground level and use your creativity and expertise to reimagine the consumer experience through home energy modeling, electrification science, and building science.

 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver software for the Helio unique bundled offering and in support of the electrification of homes. 
  • Develop and manage overall software standards, including cloud environment, testing and deployment strategy, and operations.
  • Help define technology tool selection for each of the layers of the architecture.
  • Collaborate with the Product team to build and deliver a best in class customer experience from customer acquisition to energy modeling to electrification delivery and build. 
  • Player Coach and mentor for junior developers.
  • Work with team members to define and align data experiments for data science and energy modeling.
  • Recruit, lead, motivate and manage the performance of the technology team members, building a strong team which are capable of delivering the required results.
  • Own the architecture and code of your project.
  • Build and leverage native APIs through our platform
  • Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks for performance.
  • Build custom software using frontend technologies such as React.js (and/or other javascript frameworks/libraries) as well as the backend using Node.js, Python and other technologies 
  • Oversee one or more developers on project teams; set architecture, do PR reviews on all code.
  • Provide input on aligning priorities/roadmap with technical order of events.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner on ticket level roadmap from a technical sequencing perspective.
  • Attend daily standups (and be prepared to run them when product is unavailable).

Requirements:

  • Excited and motivated to work with others in a company focused on solving climate change.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or above in software engineering or operations.
  • 5+ year industry experience in Python, ReactJS, AWS.
  • Experience iterating and building technical product concepts from the ground up. 
  • Must be strong in communication skills, enjoy learning, and have a preference for collaboration over individual projects.
  • Experience using and identifying ways technology can streamline both the internal and external operations processes.
  • Passionate about providing a great customer experience, implementing home energy products, and solving climate change.
  • Experience with modern day CRMs and workforce management tools.
  • Energy experience is preferred but not required.

Compensation includes salary, equity and  is dependent upon experience.
