We’re looking for a smart, motivated and energetic Systems Administrator with solid linux experience to join our systems and network team providing 2nd shift support. The Systems Administrator will oversee the systems in our production website, cover evening on-call support and work on projects including configuring installing new equipment, identifying and installing new operations tools, implementing new technologies, improving operations processes, identifying problems in our environment and crafting solutions. You will be joining a small team of seasoned pros who cover a wide spectrum of skills and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

What we do:
HomeAdvisor.com is the industry-leading online marketplace connecting homeowners to pre-screened and rated home improvement and maintenance specialists in their area. We're an IAC company, joining Match.com, Vimeo, and others in a wide portfolio of highly successful internet brands. We’re one of Denver’s largest technology companies, one of the Denver Post’s Top Workplaces for the past 3 years, and we were named a finalist for Colorado Technology Company of the Year in 2014. We're headquartered just outside of Denver, but have offices in Colorado Springs, Kansas City, and New York City. This role would support the Denver Headquarters primarily, but would also provide some remote support to our other offices.

Job Responsibilities:
-
Will be the primary system administrator covering second shift support responsibilities for HomeAdvisor’s production website, dev/QA and corporate enterprise environments.
-Support our production network, server and storage infrastructure including installing, configuring, maintaining, patching both physical and virtual servers.
-Monitor, back-up, analyze and troubleshoot server infrastructure. Recommend/implement changes to improve reliability, resiliency, and/or performance.
-Planning, documenting and implementing periodic maintenance windows.
-Maintaining internal and external DNS, email and ftp services.
-Developing, maintaining and following the team’s online documentation including formal operations policies, processes and procedures.
-Manage asset management/inventory and spare parts for all server and network equipment.
-Participate in Tier 2 on-call rotation and respond to Tier 2 escalations (a week-long stint every 7 weeks) that may involve working outside normal business hours.
-Work closely with other departments and collaborate with other technical staff.

Why we think you'll want this job:
-
At HomeAdvisor, your career path is what you make it - when you ask for more responsibility, you'll get it. When you have ideas, we'll listen.
-Your teammates are passionate about their work, and strive to be experts in their field. They love to learn from you, teach you, support you, and challenge you.
-What you're contributing every day far outweighs everything else. We know not everyone is productive in exactly the same way.
-Ping Pong just steps from your desk.
-At HomeAdvisor, we have a progressive take what you need paid time-off policy. Instead of accruing vacation and/or sick time, you literally take the time you need to recharge (within reason, of course).

Experience and Skills:

-3+ years of experience as a linux System Administrator supporting Redhat/CentOS.
-3+ years of experience with linux scripting with unix shell, perl or python.
-1+ year of experience supporting a VMWare ESXi virtualization environment.
-Must have knowledge of common networking protocols and services including DNS, SMTP, HTTP, FTP, NTP and SSL.
-Firm understanding of Linux security including tools/features such as iptables, SELinux, tripwire, etc.
-Must be familiar with the Apache/Tomcat web stack.
-Experience with Nagios or some other monitoring software.
-Familiarity with DevOps tools such as git, puppet. Jenkins, Jira is a plus.
-Experience managing storage infrastructure, direct-attached, SAN or NAS, is a plus.
-Experience in cloud platforms like AWS, is a plus.
-Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
-Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
-Strong experience supporting customers with demonstrable customer support skills is required.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly of technical subjects, as well as impeccable listening skills.
-Must be able to work well within a team environment and able to adapt quickly to change.
-Good judgment and troubleshooting skills when dealing with production-impacting changes and problems including the ability to follow directions to the letter (and the wisdom to know when to throw the directions out the window).
