We're seeking an action-oriented engineer with intellectual curiosity who is excited to put their experience and potential to use leading a cross-program effort at Ball to ensure that our electrical support equipment can operate on the networks and in the environments required to support our programs.
This will require a strong balance of technical experience, project engineering, and excellent communication skills.
This role will be responsible for understanding the requirements of our Information Assurance, Information Technologies, Program Security, Systems Test, Simulators, and Electrical Special Test Equipment teams, and then getting our electrical systems up and running in the environments where they are needed to test the flight hardware. Longer-term, you would be asked to help put together the strategic plan for how to improve this process and standardize it, and to lead a team of other engineers supporting these efforts across our business units.

What You'll Do:
- Work in a fast-paced team environment getting our non-flight electrical equipment and corresponding software into the environments (both classified and non-classified) and onto the networks where it has to operate, and maintaining it in those environments.
- Plan for obsolescence of equipment and software, and plan for future changes to the requirements of our customers regarding electrical equipment.
- Build and manage a team that can work closely to overcome technical, schedule, and cost challenges.
- Help standardize the process for deploying electrical equipment at Ball.
- Support estimation of the time and effort required to deploy systems into these environments, and then manage to a set cost and schedule baseline.
- Collaborate with Information Assurance, Information Technologies, Program Security, Systems Test, Simulators, Electrical Special Test Equipment, and other team members.
- Assess, summarize, and effectively communicate the impacts of complex IT and security requirements to program and company management.
- Prepare and review technical documentation.
- Prepare and present plans and processes as well as project status information to key stakeholders.
- Support meetings with program management, Ball management, customers, and partners (including traveling to other locations for these meetings when required).
- Support shipping and deployment of systems into environments at our customer, partner, or launch facilities.
- Write, review, update, and execute test procedures and test scripts to verify and certify our systems in their deployed environment including troubleshooting any issues with the deployment.
- Effectively train and mentor other engineers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 16 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
- Experience with spacecraft command and control systems, simulators, software test benches, and other electrical ground support equipment.
- Experience with project engineering / project management is highly desired, including: scoping, planning, and estimating a project; executing to that plan; providing status updates to the plan; and adjusting the plan as unexpected things come up.
- Excellent communication skills is a must.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail while appreciating the bigger picture of the complex and systems involved across multiple customers and environments.
- Ability to think strategically to plan what's required to meet the coming changes to non-flight electrical systems and security / information assurance requirements on future programs with minimal impact.
- Effective working in an environment with broad responsibilities and minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems with multiple stakeholders.

- A desire to get things done and a commitment to deliver results is crucial.
- Experience leading and mentoring other engineers is helpful, a desire to work in this capacity is required.
- Candidate should be proficient in MS Office tools, and generally have good computer skills.
- Top candidates will be goal-oriented individuals with excellent organizational skills, a team mindset, and capable of coming up to speed quickly on assigned programs.
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics preferred.
- Experience meeting the information assurance requirements of aerospace and defense customers is highly preferred.
- Experience with interpretive scripting language (such as Ruby or Python) is desired.
- Experience with LabView, Docker, Linux and real-time operating systems is desired.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $173000 - $218000

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
