We are seeking a Sales Executive with knowledge of utility demand management to represent Tendril's industry leading solution - Orchestrated Energy.  Orchestrated Energy is cloud-based software that connects to smart devices in the home to shift load and drive energy savings while maintaining customer comfort.  What you’ll do

 Orchestrated Energy is in early stage rollout at five top IOU’s, with a significant number of opportunities at other major IOUs in the current fiscal year.  Your objective will be to grow the list of Utilities deploying Orchestrated Energy, in particular targeting utilities that are looking to launch and scale demand response (DR) programs using smart thermostats, whether that is a new program or the conversion of a traditional DR program. You will do this primarily understanding utilities’ business needs and illustrating how Orchestrated Energy will help meet them.  You will work in close partnership with solutions marketing and product management, and you will report directly to the SVP of Sales and Marketing on selling a named list of strategic accounts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a robust and well-qualified sales pipeline with top U.S. utilities.
  • Work with utility clients to craft requests for proposals, and partner with utilities to create regulatory filings.
  • Carry challenging sales objectives and meet/exceed bookings targets.
  • Identify, reach and influence key decision makers and all influencers and stakeholders within targeted utility prospects.
  • Work closely with the SVP of Sales and Marketing as well as the solutions marketing and product management teams to set strategies and execute on tactics for closing business with prospective clients.
  • Be an integral member of the team creating compelling presentations, proposals, contracts and statements of work (SOWs).
  • Feed market observations and client needs back to the solutions marketing and product teams for incorporation into future software releases.

What You Bring to Tendril:

  • A clear track record of business development leading to contracts in excess of $1M.
  • 5-10 years working in the regulated utilities industry.  
  • Deep knowledge of demand management, as well as utility system planning and operation with demand side resources.
  • A background in engineering, systems operation, or power systems preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, informal environment where constant change is the norm and the bar for delivering results is high.
  • Ability to travel up to 40-50% of the time to build strong, long lasting client relationships
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • This position is based in Tendril’s Boulder, CO Headquarters office.
