Guild is one of Denver’s fastest growing startups - increasing economic mobility for working adults in America, providing education and support to help every student survive and thrive in the economy of tomorrow. Our education benefits platform helps employers offer education as a benefit to their employees, and our network of nonprofit universities and education institutions helps provide every Guild student with the right academic pathway to advance their education and career. In order to achieve our mission to serve 1000s more students and accelerate our growth, we recently raised a $21M Series B round with top tier investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Social Capital, Harrison Metal, and Cowboy Ventures. One of the most critical roles that will support our immediate, near and long term goals is the Senior Sales Strategy Associate.

As a critical, early member of the Guild team, you will interact frequently with other members of the company, including senior management. Your closest relationship will be with Katharine, the Sr. Director of Enterprise Sales, to whom you’ll report directly. Under Katharine’s guidance and direction, you will play an integral role in crafting and implementing Guild’s sales strategy. Of course, the product and Guild’s needs will change, so your role will also evolve with time.

A day in our open, collaborative workspace will look a little like this:

  • Collaborating cross-functionally with teams like Product, University Partnerships, Finance, Academic Product, and Implementation to support the sales process to bring on new Fortune 1000 clients
  • Ensuring our team is prepared for each conversation with a prospective client and moving them into the proposal review phase
  • Thinking about new sales strategies, new collateral and company best practices so that we are constantly evolving and growing with your input
  • Creating documents, spreadsheets, reports, presentations, and any other materials for meetings with Fortune 1000 companies

In this role, you’ll grow and expand your expertise by:

  • Helping to engineer and refine Guild’s sales process and go-to-market strategy
  • Helping design and define our campaigns, emails, sales scripts, and sales processes
  • Actively surveying the needs of potential Guild clients, and communicating those needs internally to our colleagues in Product, University Partnerships and Student Support
  • Proactively reaching out to prospective companies where Guild’s suite of products are a good match
  • Building effective collateral for prospective client meetings and campaigns to keep our pipeline engaged and tracking towards full partnership
  • Activating prospective clients and their teams via e-mail, phone and conference attendance
  • Learning the ins and outs of Guild as you use your organizational, multitasking, and problem solving skills to support Guild leaders
  • Implementing new, innovative practices to enhance the success of the team and organization

You’ll know if you’re successful by:

  • Developing a deep familiarity with the landscape of education benefits at Fortune 1000 companies, the key stakeholders and how Guild’s suite of products fits to serve these companies
  • Understanding what motivates executives and organizations to engage with Guild
  • Getting up to speed on Guild’s existing sales strategy and beginning to take an active role in its execution and further refinement
  • Taking primary ownership over the day-to-day sales execution, advancing prospective clients in the pipeline
  • Creating a process of pipeline advancing activities, all with a cadence that ensure a high degree of attaining new client goals

You’ll join a team:

  • Of learners & problem-solvers dedicated to our dual mission of changing education in America while building a successful, high-growth company with long-term value
  • Committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment

What you’ll add to Guild - as an individual and part of the broader team:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar or related role in Sales or Business Development at a company
  • A growth-oriented mindset reinforced by your enthusiasm for rapid iteration and prototyping
  • Experience in a client management or sales support role, working with large companies and/or senior leaders at organizations
  • Familiarity with tools like Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Gmail - PowerPoint and Excel work as well!
  • Examples of how you’ve created effective sales collateral
  • Experience with testing multiple deal options, crunching numbers that help a prospective client make a decision
  • A drive to work hard and a plan for how you can refresh and recharge while working in a startup
  • Something else? Wonderful, we’re curious to learn more about you!

Add-ons:

  • Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility, multitasking abilities, and a high level of attention-to-detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with clients
