About This Opportunity

The Rachio Product team is looking for a customer-centric Product Manager to lead our Pro product and services initiatives at Rachio. You will work within a small, highly expert, and tightly integrated Product Management and Design team, reporting to the Chief Product Officer. You’ll be operating at startup velocity on projects in multiple developmental stages. Projects span initiatives to find product/market fit for hardware and software service concepts, accelerate the growth of fledgling products, and help scale our mature products.

You will help ideate and develop new go-to-market strategies that successfully solve real contractor, partner and distribution problems with hardware and software solutions. You will work closely with sales and business development teams on discovery work that leads to hardware and scalable software products across the value chain. You will work with Marketing and Sales on go-to-market plans, with humility and open-mindedness.

We are looking for someone who relishes working on new products and features, is consumer-focused and technology savvy, with a passion for pushing the envelope in business, design, and technology. As a Product Manager, you will participate in developing the strategy and vision for new Pro products and features, and you will develop and look after our Pro product roadmap and features based on this vision. 

This role is inherently self-reliant and cross-functional. You will work closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, finance and leadership teams to bring new products and services to market and develop and grow business opportunities for Rachio. if there’s a gap in the organization or resourcing impeding successful launch or development, you will be expected to relish filling it temporarily with your initiative.

A successful candidate will be highly analytical and highly execution-oriented, yet quick to leverage the support of their colleagues where needed and return the same support. You will work extremely effectively in a matrix organization with a well-defined collaboration and decision-making process, and be adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality, simple products and applications that customers love.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive go-to-market product launches for our Pro channel, including crisp definition of the product UX and value to the customer that helps inform product marketing
  • Develop market analysis and understanding of business models that incorporate multiple different types of users across a hardware/software offering and push the envelope on who we can sell to and close deals quickly with
  • Own and prioritize product lifecycle support and optimization roadmap for launched Pro products and services to continuously improve the customer’s experience
  • Co-lead the development of new product strategy and vision supported by internal and external analysis and new trends based on product data, stakeholder analysis, surveys, interviews, and external events
  • Develop detailed "working backwards" documents for go-to-market launches and features to drive internal collaboration in highly cross-functional part of the business
  • Develop detailed, crisp business requirements and user stories that can be used to create product specifications and architecture for each product and application
  • Delegate CX problem and solution discovery to CX Designers where appropriate (and know when that is), and facilitate their design development process and decision-making
  • Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance and operational support load
  • Create commitment to our Pro product line and overall product vision both internally and with key external partners
  • Work closely with engineering teams and project management to deliver products to market, performing the role of scrum master or product owner as needed for execution
  • Execute product launches including working with sales and marketing teams, customer support, executives, and other product management team members
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team's ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals

Requirements and Skills

  •  4+ years of experience in product or product marketing, program management, or business development or technology
  • 2+ years of full lifecycle product management experience — you must have been the lead PM on the product
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with desktop and mobile tech stacks that supports Pro products
  • Experience jump-starting innovation by learning from raw product intuition tempered by measurable failure
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience working on end to end customer experiences
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines
  • Experience coordinating product development cycles and software development schedule
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical engineering and industrial design
  • Experience with embedded firmware, mobile technology, web services, and back-end application infrastructure
  • Practical working knowledge of statistics and one or more of SQL, Python, or R for ad hoc prototyping or data analytics self-sufficiency for early-stage product innovation 
  • Hands-on experience maintaining a consumer residential yard (or willing and able to)

Compensation

  • The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $145,000
