Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer MS SQL Server instances and databases in both lower environments (QA, Stage, etc.) and production environments and well as both local machines and machines hosted in cloud services (Azure, AWS)
  • Managing data storage on Azure SQL Servers
  • Managing automated SQL deployments using DacPac or SSDT
  • Monitoring performance and implementing indexing to alleviate bottlenecks
  • Determining database maintenance plans to prevent performance issues due to Index fragmentation and data fragmentation
  • Altering queries to improve relational SQL performance
  • Experience with use of NoSQL methodologies (CouchDB, Azure Table Storage, MongoDB)
  • Understand and provide input into MS SSDT database deployment processes
  • Define and maintain backups, restores, and recovery models, including log shipping and replication
  • Define and maintain MS SQL Agent Jobs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database problems
  • Maintain indexes and statistics
  • Provide direction for writing optimized queries and procedures
  • Define and maintain High Availability Groups and Always On cluster configurations
  • Full understanding of MSSQL clustering technologies (true A/P cluster and SQLAO)
  • Provide direction for data sharding solutions
  • Maintain Service Broker Queues and processes

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Production Support experience as a SQL Server DBA
  • Experience working with Windows servers, disk configurations, and Active Directory
  • Experience with zero-downtime deployment methodologies (blue/green, roll forward, roll back
  • Experience with NoSQL methodologies
  • Experience with SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014
  • MSSQL migrations from 2012 to higher versions
