Head of Core, IP, Transport Planning
Department Summary
The Head of Core, IP, and Transport Planning ensures the best use of network resources by defining and planning network core, IP, and transport system goals. This leader determines how new features and functionalities will affect capacity and performance over a horizon of 36 months. The Head of Core, IP, and Transport Network Planning develops an executable plan for 18 months rolling every quarter. This role will work closely with many engineering and technology functions in the organization to align the network planning and performance activities.
The Head of Core, IP, and Transport Planning manages a department function within the broader function of Network Development & Integration, developing major goals to support broader functional objectives. This role reviews and approves network plans and policies within various functions in the organization.
The successful candidate must demonstrate expertise in a variety of the wireless field's concepts, practices and procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Capture integrated Core, IP, and Transport plans and implement to support the overall strategic goals of DISH's wireless network systems
- Provide a 36-month horizon view of the network plan, capabilities, and performance to meet business unit goals
- Partner closely with Commercial, Enterprise Sales and Retail Sales organizations on subscriber and business forecasts and network requirements
- Proactively assess the impact of new features and services on the network, and develop plans and recommend best course of action
- Evaluate and recommend changes to current and future network requirements to meet the business needs
- Work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis organization and provide best view of network plan and its impact to budgetary outlook
Skills, Experience and Requirements
- Master's (desired) or bachelor's (required) degree in either Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or Wireless Systems Engineering.
- 10 or more years of experience with E2E Core, IP, and Transport network and performance planning
- Extensive experience in Core, IP Network and cloud computing and implementation experience
- Demonstrated experience in transport deployments and technologies
- Demonstrable experience in automating planning and performance activities
- Good understanding of full lifecycle management of technology from sunrise to sunset in in core and IP networks networks
- Strong business acumen, especially in the area of capital planning
- Proven success and expertise in architecting innovative solutions
- Good understanding of core, IP, and transport network operator and deployment architecture, and security requirements
- Candidate must have a strong leadership skills, written and oral communication, and strong problem-solving abilities
Salary Range
Compensation: $133,000.00/Year - $190,000.00/Year
