The company

Azevtec (Autonomous, Zero-Emission Vehicle Technologies) is automating 'first-mile' trucking. We simplify how large enterprises ship goods—our robotic systems automate repetitive vehicle movement and manual tasks in the world’s busiest freight-shipping hubs to enhance operational performance, reduce costs, and improve safety.

Azevtec is a rapidly growing, Series-A company founded to drive the adoption of sustainable transportation and deploy autonomous vehicles responsibly.

The organization

The Azevtec finance and operations organization is developing business processes that allow the company to build and lead a new market category in logistics automation. We're working together creatively to enable a business model with excellent market validation and to support significant customer demand across the Fortune 500. Join the team and play an integral and visible role in driving the breakout success of our first-of-its-kind autonomous vehicle system.

The role

As the first hire for and head of Azevtec's supply chain function, you will design, develop, and implement innovative and effective planning, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, and product support functions capable of scaling the business to tens of millions of dollars in recurring and profitable revenue.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Design, build and lead the supply-chain management charter, function, and team
  • Develop and maintain effective planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution processes -- from requirements collection through components acquisition and cost/inventory management
  • Help select new suppliers, and negotiate pricing and terms & conditions with suppliers
  • Cultivate cross-functional relationships (especially with engineering) and cultivate key team members to support the components cost, quality, and availability objectives of the supply chain function
  • Establish requirements for and design/select/implement a material requirements planning (MRP) system for production planning, scheduling, and inventory control
  • Develop plans to transition select in-house assembly and manufacturing functions to qualified vendors and partners, and help establish the business case for those vendors and partners to adopt plans
  • Develop a vendor scoring approach that allows Azevtec to improve the quality and diversity of its supplier base
  • Establish and lead regular business reviews with relevant suppliers to share feedback and improve visibility into vendor plans
  • Use data to identify, prioritize, and solve complex business problems
  • Support multiple simultaneous projects and responsibilities
  • Employ analytical tools that drive key internal decision-making processes and resource prioritization

Required qualifications

  • Experience building a successful supply chain and procurement function from scratch
  • Comfort with complex, hardware+software systems and the full-lifecycle procurement processes necessary to support them
  • Track record of success in new product introduction (NPI) / product lifecycle management (PLM)
  • Negotiation and people management skills that yield consistently and measurably good outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to roll up your sleeves and execute to get the job done in a startup environment
  • Experience selecting, configuring, and owning a materials requirements planning (MRP) system
  • BS or BA degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and team skills
  • Obvious curiosity about and interest in autonomous vehicle technology

Ideal qualifications

  • MBA/Masters in industrial engineering or supply chain operations
  • Background with early-stage/Series-A companies with a similar profile - preferably in robotics, automotive, aerospace, hardware, or similar markets
  • Experience designing and supporting warranty programs that drive both profitability and customer satisfaction
