Role Overview

We are seeking a Deputy Crew Chief to join the Boom team. Your primary responsibility will be supporting the Crew Chief with the coordination and management of the build and maintenance tasks for XB-1, the first independently developed supersonic jet and history's fastest civil aircraft.  

Specific tasks will include tracking and signing off work performed on and off the aircraft, maintaining the aircraft and supporting paperwork in accordance with FAA airworthiness standards, establishing the standards for work performed and qualifications for the team doing the work, and tracking aircraft maintenance. In the crew chief’s absence, you will be leading the entire team performing maintenance for the XB-1. This high performing candidate should have experience building a team and creating a culture that is safe, transparent, productive, and have great communication skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous experience as a maintenance lead on an aircraft - minimum of 5 years
  • Demonstrated organizational skills showing attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Experience creating the processes and inspection plans for a flight test team
  • Coordinate and manage aircraft maintenance  and personnel within the overall flight test schedule

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Composite aircraft fabrication experience
  • Experience operating experimental jet aircraft
  • Previous experience working directly with aircraft designers and engineers
  • Ability to grow and lead a large team in a maintenance/flight test environment

Degrees and Certifications: 

  • A&P Certificate Required, IA preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • All certifications from commercial or military schools will be reviewed/evaluated
Compensation: 
  • Salary Range for this position is $100,000-$120,000 range and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position. 

To conform to U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR), applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
