The Granicus Finance team is a high performing group that enjoys partnering with teams to assist with the Company's objectives. We are looking for a motivated individual to manage the Company's tax activities, including both income and indirect tax. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, flexible with requests, enjoys solving problems, is effective at managing relationships and communicates well with others.

What You'll Do:

· Manage Granicus's indirect tax process, including:

o Manage Avalara, the Company's indirect tax system. Review the indirect tax filings prepared by Avalara and confirm payment amounts (returns are filed and paid through Avalara)

o Determine sales taxability of new product offerings and services

o Monitor nexus requirements to ensure the company is filing in the appropriate jurisdictions

o Resolve sales tax deficiencies with various US and Canada jurisdictions

o Back file all late tax returns, generally after an acquisition of a company, to avoid non-compliance

o Respond to federal, state, and local government tax and compliance notices

o Close all dormant tax accounts (generally payroll, unemployment, and sales tax) for all acquired entities

o Compile documentation for sales and use tax audits and correspond with state and local tax auditors as required. Assist with indirect tax audits by capturing, analyzing, and providing requested audit supporting documentation as needed

o Maintain filing calendar for all indirect tax types (sales and use, business and occupation, gross receipts, property tax) for all legal entities and confirm the calendar in Avalara

o Complete new registrations for acquired entities or new business entities, including business licenses, sales tax, payroll tax, and unemployment tax for the US and Canada

o Manage Canada GST and HST installment calculations and payments

o Assist with reconciliation of indirect tax general ledger accounts and propose journal entries as necessary to record accruals or adjustments

· Manage Granicus's corporate tax process, including:

o Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of the company federal tax returns with 3rd party corporate tax return provider (Plante Moran) and facilitate accurate and timely filing of all tax forms and payments

o File and initiate federal and state quarterly estimates and extension payments

o Manage the company's tax advisors (Plante Moran and Ernst and Young)

o Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments and conduct appropriate tax research

o Conduct regular economic analyses pursuant to the preparation of transfer pricing reports, including responsibility to gather data. Prepare relevant transfer pricing calculations

o Prepare quarterly and annual state apportionment calculations

o Play a role in the preparation of work papers and schedules and calculations related to the annual tax provision process during the US GAAP audit

o Participate in tax projects to improve processes, minimize manual manipulation of data, and maintain accuracy

o Conduct a monthly review of tax depreciation schedules maintained by accounting.

o Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.

· Manage Granicus's registered agent, Corporation Service Company (CSC), including:

o Coordinate services and billing with CSC all corporate entities

o Gather, prepare, and provide CSC with information to file state annual reports

· Assist with team members with large one-off projects to help step in when resources are needed

Who You Are:

· You have 5 or more years of experience in corporate income and indirect tax

· You have a deep understanding of general accounting and financial concepts and processes

· You have a 4-year degree in Accounting

· You communicate well with team members and customers

· You have intermediate MS Office skills

· You are precise, with exceptional problem-solving skills

· You have effective project management skills, including identifying when we need to step back and re-assess approaches/processes

· You demonstrate a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy

1999 Broadway is located in-between Denver’s Downtown and Uptown neighborhoods. Granicus occupies the 36 and 37 floors of the building.
