The IT Risk Intern will be a key member of the IT Risk team consisting of information security/IT risk professionals that are responsible for the program management and enhancement of the Arrow Risk and Controls Framework. The IT Risk program includes designing, developing, updating and monitoring the implementation of controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Arrow’s sensitive information. IT Risk is exposed to and communicates with all areas of the company while interacting with hundreds of vendors and customers providing services to and on behalf of Arrow while supporting the objective of ensuring the protection of Arrow’s sensitive information that a Vendor may access, process and/or store and where a customer may be sending sensitive data to Arrow. The intern will have the opportunity to work with business partners, corporate council and vendors to ensure the maturity and execution of key process while assisting the Arrow business to achieve its objectives.
Detailed focus areas:
• You will work within and build processes and controls which enhance Arrow’s IT Risk oversight program, and help to develop new ideas based on your interactions with internal customers, external partners, clients and vendors.
• You will spend time working with multiple lines of business to understand common issues, and help find innovative solutions supporting Arrow’s business teams achieve business objectives.
• You may work with cross functional teams to define new controls and oversight processes.
• You may work with the external consultants, internal legal and compliance on global regulatory/data security programs.
•You will identify opportunities for process improvements to deliver increasing operational efficiency in the various IT risk security oversight processes.
Requirements & Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Risk Management or IT GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) with a graduation date no earlier than December 2018.
- Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer
- 3.0 GPA or Higher
- Understanding of information security "best practices"
- Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter with outstanding organizational skills
- Curiosity to continually reevaluate existing designs
- Ability to prioritize based on opportunities and effectively multitask
- Ability to track multiple projects (3-4) going on all at once.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Detail oriented mindset
- Quickly learn process of orders, inventory management, and data analysis
- Problem solving – work with management to overcome obstacles within a supplier and make it transparent to sales team
