Guild is hiring a VP of People Operations to ensure our employees, teams, and organizations are healthy, thriving, and able to deliver on our ambitious business goals. 

In particular, the VP of People Operations will collaborate with the Chief People Officer and Guild’s senior leaders to establish and refine People programs (e.g. performance management, talent management, compensation); bring best practices in areas such as organizational development, diversity and inclusion, and employee relations; lead a generalist team of HR Business Partners; and provide direct HR partnership to members of the Senior Leadership Team.

As a VP of People Operations, you will:

  • Consider how to support the full employee lifecycle post-hire (e.g. on-boarding, development, evaluation, promotion, rewards, recognition, retention, and exit) for both exempt and non-exempt employees in a broad spectrum of roles ranging from Software Engineers to Academic Coaching and Sales. 
  • Establish or refine programs to meet scaling needs of a fast-growing Company, ensuring they are in-line with and reinforcing our culture and driving business results. 
  • Lead a team of HR Business Partners who are aligned to the different functional areas of the business (e.g. Tech, Go To Market, Student Facing). 
  • Provide coaching and best practices to the HR team on issues related to employee and manager development, talent management, interpersonal and team dynamics, retention, employee engagement, workforce planning, and legal compliance. 
  • Work to develop leaders within People Operations and cross-functionally who are capable of taking the Company to its next phases of growth, ensuring they embody the culture and can scale their organizations.
  • Build Guild’s diversity and inclusion strategy alongside the Chief People Officer, ensuring Guild is an equitable, inclusive Company where everyone can bring their best selves to work. 
  • Provide insights to leadership with data-supported recommendations for how to bolster areas of strength, mitigate areas of concern, and anticipate possible outcomes. 
  • Become a trusted and credible member of the executive team by building relationships and rapport with senior leaders and establishing the value of a seasoned HR partner. 
  • Guide resolution on complex employee relations matters, including investigations and disciplinary actions.
  • Identifies areas of risk (legal, cultural, etc.) and creates actionable plans to mitigate risk. 
  • Help the HR team better use data to identify, surface, and act on opportunities to enhance the effectiveness, culture, and morale of Guild teams. 
  • Become an ambassador of Guild’s culture, values, and behaviors. 

In addition to working on the People Ops Team, in this role you will collaborate with other Guild leaders including: Bijal Shah (Chief Product and Analytics Officer), Josh Scott (President), Greg Siegel (SVP of Go-To-Market), & Karina Salenieks (SVP of Sales).

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 10+ years of progressive strategic experience in Human Resources (including process, procedure, and best practices), preferably in a start-up environment.
  • An HR degree or equivalent experience and a demonstrated understanding of HR practices, policies, and laws. 
  • Experience building and scaling performance management, rewards, diversity and inclusion, and talent management programs.
  • Proven track record of identifying people problems and using strategic skills to drive and influence appropriate solutions. 
  • Strong familiarity and experience executing HR disciplines including organizational effectiveness, talent management, performance management, etc.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, making both strategic and tactical decisions to navigate sensitive or confidential issues.
  • Strong management and leadership experience and a deep desire to build a bench of strong HR professionals.
  • The ability to balance multiple, competing priorities and projects at the same time. 
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills. Confident presenting to large groups, fellow executives, and teammates of all levels. The ability to work and connect with a variety of personalities on cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong business, analytics and HR acumen, including strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and initiative. High level of emotional intelligence.
  • Experience overseeing multi-state HR operations.
  • Experience in dealing with complex employee relations issues.
  • Proven ability to support innovation and change.
