People Operations Manager
Boulder, Remote US

Job Summary
At Techstars we strongly believe that our people are our most valuable business asset and that a significant driver of our success can be directly tied to our creative, driven, adaptable, and supportive people, who above all, believe in and embody Give First.

The People Operations Manager will work across all functions of Techstars to administer People Operations plans and procedures as we continue to scale as an organization. As a key contributor to building and maintaining Techstars’ “Give First” company culture this role will be managing and improving initiatives to support hiring, onboarding, benefit offerings, employee engagement, and more.

We are looking for someone that has stellar interpersonal skills, loves getting into the details and building out processes, is eager to learn more about what makes organizations great, and above all has a great sense of humor. (We try not to take ourselves too seriously)

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Own employee onboarding from drafting offer letters and employment contracts to gathering paperwork and welcoming them in their first week
  • Maintain people data across all HR systems (e.g. Namely, Salesforce, Newton) with organizational and employee changes
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities to better leverage technology and help the People Ops team scale
  • Support payroll, benefits and compensation programs by ensuring the correct and updated data is reflected in our systems
  • Manage registrations for payroll tax accounts and work with our payroll vendor to ensure payroll tax compliance
  • Own the administration of HRIS reports, organizational charts, record keeping, correspondence, and personnel files
  • Maintain high data integrity of our HRIS and drive any necessary new systems selection process and systems implementations
  • Support 401(k) and financial audits
  • Assist with regular reviews, updates and filings to ensure our employment compliance in the US and internationally - working closely with the rest of the People Operations team and global PEO to do so and research and update processes or procedures to ensure ongoing compliance globally
  • Manage our semi annual bonus review process and assist in our annual compensation review process
  • Support annual US benefits renewal and open enrollment processes
  • Manage our independent contractors and make sure we are classifying and engaging them appropriately worldwide
  • Support our employees through the employee lifecycle (recruiting, onboarding, promotions, transfers, offboarding) while innovating the process to improve the employee experience
  • Assist and coordinate company-wide communications (e.g. monthly newsletters, feedback, announcements, company-wide meetings)

A Bit About You:

  • You have a solid understanding of HR systems, including Payroll, Benefits, Compensation and HRIS (currently Google Apps, Namely and Payscale)
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and are able to keep your cool while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Enjoy and naturally possess a global outlook when thinking about your impact individually and as a team
  • Insanely organized and get an inexplicable sense of satisfaction when you are able to “clean things up”
  • Likes to stay on top of new regulations that impact our business and strives to put processes in place to remain compliant
  • Self-starter and team player in which you never have to be asked twice to follow up on something and nothing ever slips through the cracks
  • You thoroughly enjoy working with all sorts of people and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • You strongly identify with our culture of being people-oriented, adaptable, and creative
  • Strong interest and competence around technology, entrepreneurship, and HR Operations. You are constantly striving to get better and learn more
  • Sound judgment in that you are able to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (HR-related degree a plus but not required) and/or at least three years of relevant work experience
