At Xero, we believe that diversity and inclusion (D&I) enables our business to better understand and serve customers, attract and develop top talent and innovate successfully. This newly created role is an exciting opportunity to join the People Experience (PX) team at Xero as part of our global ‘centre of excellence’ for D&I. You’ll play an essential role in creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive Xero. Your primary focus will be to partner with regional business and PX colleagues to deliver on our D&I objectives for North America and to implement regional D&I initiatives aligned with Xero’s global strategy. In addition, you’ll play an important role as part of the D&I team in creating new global initiatives that can be implemented across Xero.
This position can be based in California, New York, Denver or Toronto.
What you'll do
- Partner with our regional PX Director and the Americas leadership team to develop and implement D&I action plans for the US and Canada, in line with our global D&I strategy and Xero’s values and purpose
- Partner and build excellent relationships within the business and across PX to understand business priorities and needs
- Act as a trusted advisor to all levels of Xero’s business in the Americas in terms of providing subject matter expertise on D&I and connecting D&I to all aspects of our business
- Engage with people leaders across US and Canada and build their capability to role model and prioritize D&I for their teams, while continuing to build awareness and capability to ensure D&I is owned by all Xeros
- Working with our Communications team where appropriate, lead our internal and external communications about D&I initiatives, events and progress in the US and Canada
- Partner with our Learning Experience team to deliver impactful in-person and online D&I content and training for our people in the northern hemisphere, including customizing global training where appropriate for the North America region
- Use a data-driven approach to inform internal audiences, measure success of existing programs and initiatives and identify additional opportunities for continued improvement
- Partner with the existing broad-based D&I champions groups in the US and Canada and facilitate and support them to create internal events and initiatives to support inclusion and belonging for our people in North America
- Build an operating model and framework to support the future development of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) globally
- Provide data driven research and industry benchmarking that will help Xero deliver ‘best practice’ D&I strategies customized to North America
- Evaluate and maintain relationships with external organizations (eg. industry, non-profit, and university groups) that align with our D&I objectives
- As an integral part of the global D&I team, lead or contribute (as appropriate) to the design, development and implementation of new global D&I initiatives
Success looks like
- Implement our D&I action plan for North America and measure and track progress towards our objectives, including through delivering reports and metrics to key stakeholders
- Ensure our D&I programs in North America remain aligned and closely connected with our global D&I strategy
- Contribute to the design, development and roll-out of new global D&I initiatives
- Support our leadership team for North America as a trusted advisor on D&I

What you'll bring with you: Experience
- 8+ years of organizational experience with 3+ years of experience focused on D&I programs
- Practical experience in delivering a broad range of D&I strategies, policies and processes
- Proven ability to apply D&I best practices Experience coaching leaders on D&I initiatives
- Experience in building & supporting ERGs
- Demonstrated knowledge of ERG trends and growth
- Experience with data collection practices and a strong ability to translating data into actionable insights
- Experience in training & facilitation
- Previous experience in D&I at a high-growth tech company or a large and complex global organization would be highly regarded

Total compensation for this role includes a base salary of $90,000 - $115,000, commensurate with experience, plus an annual grant of Xero shares, calculated as a percentage of base salary.
