We're looking for a Director of People to join our team and drive continuous improvement for our company culture and growing head count within the Backbone organization. You will have a significant impact on expanding and managing the entire Backbone workforce while working out of Backbone HQ in Downtown Boulder, CO.

What you’ll do:

• Official point of contact for all HR related needs both internally and externally

• Collaborate with the executive team to realize the company’s vision and mission

• Develop strategic People Ops plans and policies (recruiting, performance management, training, compensation etc.)

• Assist in recruiting and screening applicants and scheduling interviews as needed for all departments

• Decide and act on initiatives for equal opportunity, diversity, inclusion etc.

• Assume responsibility of labor relations

• Ensure all procedures comply with legal regulations and practices

• Analyze the effectiveness of People Ops operations, processes and policies

• Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and other executives

• Develop and maintain Backbone Employee Onboarding processes 

• Create and execute corporate events, culture and team building activities, remote events

• Help plan and manage corporate lunches, dinners, happy hours, etc.

Qualifications you have:

• 3-5 years of experience in fast paced, startup, tech company environments 

• Deep knowledge of performance management, culture building, recruitment, etc.

• Track record of using metrics and analytics to make data-informed decisions

• Knowledge of local, state, and national labor law

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Well-organized with excellent leadership qualities

• Proven management skills with the ability to train, influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers

• Experience handling sensitive information

• Strong work ethic and initiative with a very positive attitude

• Ability to represent Backbone at conferences and events
