We are a global eCommerce brand doing seven-plus figures of monthly revenue. We are relentless planners, working tirelessly to reach nine-figure status within the next 18 months. We are expert marketers and customer-obsessed… but we need help professionalizing our financial operations.
With the pace at which our business has grown, we have yet to put proper financial processes and controls in place. We have reporting, but we need to vastly increase our confidence in the numbers that are being reviewed.
We need someone who has built a finance department and can create processes and structure where there is none. We need someone who can go five levels deep on a financial report and find the insights that will continue to fuel our growth.
What Success Looks Like:
- A complete and accurate cash flow forecast will be updated and presented weekly
- A complete and accurate P&L will be presented weekly
- A complete forecast and budget will be created, and results will be measured against it
- Expenses outside of the budget will be challenged
- Formal processes for payroll, POs, invoicing, etc., will be established and enforced
- Advantageous financing and payment terms will be secured to enable growth
- Cash reserves will be optimized through savings, payment, and other means
- All significant expenses and investments will be planned for and will not come as a surprise
Responsibilities:
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic financial planning
- Hold all departments and leaders accountable to budgetary numbers and forecasts
- Own the creation and accuracy of all financial reports, statements, and metrics
- Develop financial models to aid in decision-making and support company expansion
- Develop, document, and enforce company-wide finance policies and best practices
- Manage the finance team and support day-to-day financial operations
- Support leaders across the company to ensure financial literacy and expense control
- Own the cash balance and cash flow forecast to ensure company growth and operations continue uninterrupted
- Comply with all federal and local rules and regulations and support the filing of state, federal, and international taxes
- Review and assist in negotiating vendor and supplier agreements
- Lead weekly and monthly finance meetings with the executive team, identifying trends, proposing actions, and providing solutions to existing and potential problems
Skills, Training, Education, & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
- An MBA is a plus
- Working knowledge of GAAP Accounting principles
- 5+ years of managing an eight-figure or more P&L
- 3+ years working in an eCommerce physical product company
- 3+ years managing entry-level finance personnel
