Role Overview:


We are building an elite team of smart and driven individuals to deliver accurate and timely reporting to management and help drive accounting processes as we grow.


Reporting to the Head of Accounting Operations, the Staff Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations across all aspects of the business. This role will be very hands-on and play an integral part in all aspects of accounting operations and a wide variety of projects as we scale.


In this role you’ll be collaborating cross functionally regarding various aspects of Accounting including but not limited to: revenue recognition, close processes, financial reporting, reconciliations, related analysis, and ad hoc projects.


The successful candidate will be detailed and deadline-oriented, technologically inclined, operational, results driven and can operate in a fast-paced and collaborative startup environment. What You'll Do:

  • Key participant in the the month end close process
  • Assist in preparation of revenue recognition schedules and related journal entries
  • Assist in the consolidation process including inter-company reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit journal entries and general ledger reconciliations with quality work papers and support.
  • Review and verify transactions within general ledger accounts to ensure proper coding per COA, timing of recognition, classification, and accordance to corporate policy and US GAAP Identify and correct transactions and balances that are not reflected appropriately in the general ledger
  • Assist in the processing of expenses incurred using corporate credit cards and reimbursements to employees, complete monthly reconciliations with the general ledger, coding to OPEX, construction and pre-construction projects and address issues
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly reporting package including collection of detailed explanations for variances in month and quarterly results
  • Assist in daily cash management activities
  • Support the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Suggest and assist in driving improvements on accounting processes, documentation, and procedures
  • Assist with accounting projects, including implementation of key financial systems, internal controls, close efficiency, audit readiness, and reporting

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Accounting, Finance or relevant field)
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience. Big 4 accounting firms combined with industry experience preferred
  • CPA certification a strong plus
  • Experience and knowledge in U.S. GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience with Quickbooks preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated sense of urgency
  • Experience in a high-growth company
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally across the company
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to drive continuous improvement; Ability to think-out of the box and improve processes that are broken
  • Okay with a ‘startup mentality’ - ability to be flexible and comfortable with changing requirements
  • Strong sense of ownership, a positive attitude, and a willingness to be a team player
  • Construction industry experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, with the ability to manipulate and digest large amounts of data
  • Experience with the following tools is a plus: Bill.com, Expensify, CoConstruct, Brex, NetSuite, Intacct
