Wowza Media Systems is seeking a Revenue Accountant to support the growth of our accounting, finance and administrative functions.  The ideal candidate will have experience in software and/or SAAS revenue recognition and accounting, financial analysis, GL accounting and systems knowledge. This person will report to the Revenue Manager and will play a vital role in the continued top line growth of Wowza and the development of various finance and accounting functions. This role will be based in our Golden, CO office.

What you will be doing:

• Owning the processing and reporting of revenue transactions- everything from initial export to monthly rollforwards
• Working with the sales, product and billing teams to assist in customer revenue transactions and revenue reporting using Salesforce, QuickBooks and our billing system (Zuora)
• Revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting and reconciliation
• Partnering with business intelligence to automate monthly revenue reporting procedures and analysis
• Assist with our annual audit, budget vs. actual reporting and various other accounting and finance projects
• Working with sales to calculate and report on commissions

To be successful, you must be very attentive to detail and be able to navigate through accounting (QuickBooks), billing (Zuora), CRM (Salesforce), Business Intelligence (Tableau) systems, as well as from other disparate data sources. Communication skills and working with service providers, customers and other functional departments are critical. This position requires excellent hands on execution and independent project work.  

Experience we’d like you to have:

• 2+ years of experience working in an accounting and/or finance department with involvement in revenue accounting, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Outstanding analytical and quantitative skills
• Ability to manipulate data and reconcile reports to prior data sets
• Experience handling large sets of data
• Distinctive problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to communicate with all functional groups
• Ability to process information, analyze data, and reach conclusions based on sound reasoning
• BA/BS degree (CPA and Public Accounting experience is a plus)
• Knowledge in Zuora, Salesforce and Quickbooks is a plus
• Experience with subscription revenue recognition a plus
