Director of Finance

The Director of Finance serves as a key member of the leadership team and has the responsibility for overseeing StickerGiant’s financial health. This role combines operational and strategic approaches; equal parts managing accounting and financial control functions, and establishing a financial strategy for profitable long-term growth of our business.  This is a hands-on position in a small, fast-growth business with $17M in annual revenue (2018). This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer (COO).  

You will play a significant role in StickerGiant’s leadership team supporting our

 vision, values and strategic goals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership 20%

  • Vital member of StickerGiant’s leadership team responsible for scaling rapid growth and solid profitability

  • A role model for StickerGiant core values at all times

  • Servant people leader; lead, mentor, and develop a growing and dynamic team

  • Support the advancement of the Founders/Owners/Executives vision 

  • Holds financial stewardship for a department

  • Create and communicate the long-term vision for a department

  • Prioritize important issues and execute on solutions related to internal workflows, process, product quality and people

Finance Department 80%

FP&A 

  • Spearhead Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) reporting, performance analysis and financial modeling

  • Convert financial analysis into insights and communicate insights to key stakeholders to drive decision-making  

  • Develop a quantitative revenue growth model and in tandem partner across the organization for cost savings initiatives  

  • Prepare accurate financial statements for executives, leadership team, stakeholders and others as requested

Accounting Platform Transition 

  • Manage the transition of accounting ledger ownership from CPA provider to internal accounting staff members

  • Research, evaluate and recommend new accounting software platform with IT Director

  • Oversee and continuously improve all internal accounting functions for general ledger maintenance in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Oversee the process for daily accounting transactions such as income, accounts receivable, deposits, accounts payable

Budget Planning 

  • Oversee quarterly/annual operating budget including department-level budget planning, budget approval process and fiscal stewardship practices

Other Duties 

  • Serve as leader and coach to Finance team members to support their engagement, growth, development and recognition

  • Oversee all federal and state tax compliance in accordance with law

  • Implement and ensure compliance with all internal financial controls procedures

  • Manage StickerGiant’s compliance requirements with IRS and other regulations

  • Handle business insurance policies and annual renewal process to ensure effective risk mitigation

  • Oversee StickerGiant bank accounts and all banking relationships

  • Oversee private counsel partnership and services

  • Facilities and office management 

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Business or a related discipline

  • Masters in Business Administration (MBA) desired; not required

  • 7-10 years public accounting experience involving general ledger, banking and treasury, payroll, financial reporting and analysis, and budgeting

  • 2-5 years direct people leadership

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Experience leading Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and GAAP accounting principles

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software, data visualization tools, spreadsheets, Google Docs

  • Experience implementing an ERP for accounting processes (preferably in a manufacturing company) 

  • Strong track record of leadership, especially overseeing and developing people and teams

  • Personal values of collaboration, integrity, ethics, honesty, humble

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; able to communicate at all levels of an organization effectively

  • Analytic mindset, astute detail orientation and accuracy of information

  • Excellent presentation skills related to financial data at all levels - owners/executives, team members, and all company meetings. 

  • Proven skills of maintaining and protecting confidential information 

  • Awareness of regulatory compliance for federal and state-level business financial reporting 

  • Ability to embrace and follow a common business framework such as Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) and Open Book Management
