Description

We are seeking a dynamic Controller to join our growing finance and accounting team. You will be directly responsible for coordinating the Company’s financial close processes, assisting with the external audit and establishing policies, controls and procedures within the Accounting function. Ample opportunity exists to assist in the design, deployment, and adaptation of scalable automation as the business grows.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this position provides high visibility to the executive leadership team and offers an incredible opportunity for growth. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have strong organization and communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Management:

  • Manage the monthly financial close and reporting process, including monthly financial statements, Company-wide metrics and all SaaSOptics reports.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, all key accounts like accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, revenue, as well as rev recognition and supporting contract summaries and collections.
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure financial results are completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with GAAP.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and policies to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements.
  • Assist in the annual budget, quarterly board reporting, and monthly forecasting process.
  • Interact closely with the Sales department, coordinating communications on all items related to billing, revenue, monthly commission calculations and customer relationships.
  • Works across all functional areas on accounting items specific to the Team Leaders’ areas.
  • Accountable for the Purchasing process including electronic and hard check invoice payment
  • Manges expense reimbursement process.

Manage Audit and Tax Activities:

  • Support the Company’s annual financial audit by its external audit firm.
  • Ensure tax compliance with various government agencies; this includes Income Tax, Sales and Use Tax, Business Tax, etc. Company will utilize external tax experts as necessary.
  • Oversee Accounting Manager to ensure completion of all monthly, quarterly and annual Sales and Use Tax filings.

Technical Accounting:

  • Assist with technical accounting issues including supporting the preparation of key accounting issue memos.
  • Provide interpretation and application of accounting procedures, principles and pronouncements in accordance with GAAP, including review and interpretation of customer contracts to implement revenue tracking, reporting and analysis.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Certified Public Accountant license preferred.
  • Big 4 accounting experience or 5+ years progressive accounting and reporting experience within a SaaS/Technology company.
  • Competency applying GAAP within a complex organization, including researching and implementing relevant accounting technical standards.
  • Experience leading an effective and efficient closing process, including the implementation of best practices and the ability to leverage systems to automate processes and financial reporting.
  • Experience in the budgeting process for a company with $10M-30M ARR.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with QuickBooks Online and SaaSOptics subscription management software a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to identify options and effectively communicate recommend approach.
  • Enthusiastic team player with desire to train/mentor, and willing to assist others.
  • Experience of creating processes and building/leading accounting teams.
