The Role:
Sunday is looking for an Accounting Manager to help lay the foundation for future growth. As the business grows in complexity and size, this role will be critical in implementing accounting processes and infrastructure to ensure that Sunday is able to scale and meet its goals. This is an opportunity to come in at the ground level of a fast-paced startup and be a key contributor to a team that is changing an industry for the better.
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will initially collaborate closely with the external accounting team with the goal of internalizing the function. This role will have sole ownership over the General Ledger and will be responsible for preparing reconciliation schedules, implementing internal controls, and collaborating with external teams.
You’ll Make an Impact By:
- Coordinating with an outsourced accounting team to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely month end close process with the goal of transitioning functions internally.
- Preparing and reviewing monthly reconciliations to ensure accurate presentation of financial statements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes and controls and streamline workflows; work closely with external departments to implement improvements.
- Assisting with the annual financial statement audit by working closely with external auditors.
- Owning general accounting, AP, and AR. The long-term plan for this role is to hire and manage the GL, AP, and AR teams as the Company grows.
- Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Creating and documenting key accounting procedures around revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and costing.
- Assisting in monitoring and maintaining Sales Tax compliance.
- Contributing to the development of new accounting systems, billing programs, and control procedures, including a future ERP implementation.
About You:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role.
- Experience with consumer products or food & beverage companies with high inventory transaction volume is required.
- Familiarity with deferred revenue business models nice to have, ability to quickly learn a must have.
- Strong working knowledge of inventory, inventory management systems, and complex inventory reconciliations is required.
- Excellent knowledge and experience with accounting software and databases.
- Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company's success.
- Knowledge of US GAAP with ability to recognize and accurately record transactions in accordance with US GAAP.
- Comfortable in a fluid environment and adaptable to change.
