JOB DESCRIPTION
The VP, Cybersecurity will be responsible for continuing to mature the cyber security program at Vertafore, tasked with protecting the company from external and internal threats while ensuring Vertafore meets domestic and international security and privacy standards and relevant regulatory requirements, e.g. SSAE18, NIST, ISO 27001/27002, NY-DFS. The ideal candidate will be an insightful leader who has proven security and compliance experience and strong leadership skills.
As the VP, Cybersecurity continues to develop this critical function, he/she will need to be both doer and delegator, able to grow an experienced team capable of delivering day-to-day information security activities, while also providing strategic thought leadership and planning. This leader must be comfortable diving into technical details to solve challenges but also able to interpret the significance of those details as they relate to business operations and communicate the risks to the Company's executive leadership.
He/she will be responsible for making business aligned, intelligent and pragmatic decisions and for prioritizing investment dollars and team focus, by weighing complex risks and leveraging a network that extends beyond the company. This position reports to the SVP, General Counsel.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Formulating and leading a team to continue to implement a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that protects Vertafore.
· Ensuring that all company systems and devices, network and cloud architecture, and applications are properly designed and maintained to ensure company security and/or compliance standards.
· Building sustainable relationships through education and effective communication to key stakeholders throughout the business regarding new threats, industry trends, and applicable laws related to security through reports, presentations and key metrics.
· Identifying and mitigating security incidents, application vulnerabilities, network/infrastructure weaknesses, and other potential security threats.
· Identifying software/tools that can increase Vertafore's security posture and/or threat intelligence.
· Managing security incidents and events to protect users and data assets, including intellectual property, regulated data and the company's reputation.
· Managing larger security projects with globally distributed, cross-functional teams.
· Influencing company culture to be one of security and compliance awareness with security being a key criterion for decisions and process changes.
Position Requirements will include:
· 10+ years Security Experience.
· BS degree in a relevant field.
· Knowledge of and experience with industry standard information security frameworks and regulatory requirements, e.g. NIST, ISO, NY-DFS.
· Experience designing and implementing comprehensive security programs for corporate and cloud environments.
· Well-developed interpersonal, administrative, management, and leadership skills.
· Disciplined approach to execution and follow through. Ability to develop a deep understanding of the company's business, processes, and systems to ensure successful deployment of Vertafore's security initiatives.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting goals and deadlines under pressure.
· Superior problem solving and project management skills, including the ability to balance resources and rapidly evaluate and address risk.
· Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) with the ability to synthesize and explain complex technology terms.
· Embracing Vertafore's culture demonstrating collaboration, customer success, innovation and integrity.
Other highly preferred skills will include:
· Previous experience managing remote teams.
· Ability to effectively communicate to non-technical people.
· Experience with process re-engineering and automation of tasks.
· Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or other Information Security / IT audit and privacy certifications (e.g. CISSP, CRISC, CISA, ISO/IEC 27001 Certified Auditor, CIPP).
· Understanding of CIS Top 20 controls or similar standards.
