Why this role?

As Software Engineer in Test you'll work equally and effectively in both development and testing roles. You will take part in the complete software development process as well as the software testing process with focus on Native Mobile Application development across multiple platforms and device types. You will be competent in writing automated tests for all types of software solutions.

You will ensure that the native mobile applications deliver the best experiences to our users. Your work will impact every user interacting with our native mobile applications.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Working within an agile software development team to deliver and execute test automation solutions for our native mobile application set and shared data services
  • Working collaboratively within the engineering team to identify test cases and suites best suited for automation
  • Planning and executing performance tests using automation testing frameworks for native mobile applications and leveraged data services
  • Working with other DHI employees outside of the team to enhance/expand existing automation frameworks
  • Troubleshooting and providing failure analysis of issues identified from the automation suite
  • Writing and executing SQL queries for UI/data validation and test data generation
  • Providing communication with partnering teams in regard to testing progress, dependencies and risk
  • Providing detailed test reports and metrics to document the status and any risk for releases
  • Researching latest trends, strategies and emerging technologies for mobile applications and contribute to technical vision
  • Working with other software engineers to understand the high-level mobile software designs and technical specs
  • Working with project teams to plan integration and implementation strategies
  • Creating complex prototypes, ensuring deliverables are high quality and meet user expectations
  • Following approved life cycle methodologies, creates design documents, and performs program coding and testing

For this role, we're requiring:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Expertise building apps that communicate with RESTful services
  • Must have tested web applications that involved technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, responsive design, JSON, and REST to be accessed on multiple platforms, including mobile and desktops
  • Ability to analyze automated test results and metrics, perform root cause failure analysis
  • Strong SQL knowledge - responsible for complex data validation
  • Strong background in QA methodologies and best practices
  • Ability to write and execute detailed test cases that exercise all aspects of the system under test
  • Ability to distinguish defects from enhancement requests
  • Team player who exhibits effective interpersonal skills with a collaborative style

Education, Experience

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience testing web based or mobile applications with a strong background in building comprehensive automated frameworks
  • 3+ years of Software Development experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Continuous Integration (CI) tools: Jenkins, TFS, or others
  • Experience with common automated testing frameworks and platforms across Microsoft, Java, and open-source languages such as Gherkin (SpecFlow, Cucumber, etc), Selenium, Rest Assured, JMeter, Appium or another mobile test automation framework
  • Experience with Google Analytics and SEO concepts and validation a plus
  • Experience working in an enterprise environment with agile software development methodologies

Compensation

Base salary/pay of $72,000 – $140,400 per year, plus 10% annual bonus at 100% of plan targets tied to company and individual performance. Offer will depend on location and level of job-related knowledge, skills, abilities and experience.
