Your Impact:
Handshake is building a diverse team of dynamic engineers who value creating a high quality, high impact product. We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer who is an excellent engineer with a strong focus in development and availability. You'll be working with the product engineering teams and our infrastructure teams, to drive focused initiatives that improve operational efficiency and scalability of our platform.
Our SRE squad drives reliability of the overall system through a holistic, breadth-first, software engineering-based approach. Our focus is on platform reliability, visibility, and scalability. You will be responsible for incident management, leading teams to resolve issues and bring to light impactful remediation items that help improve reliability
Your Role
- Working with Product and Engineering peers to build an infrastructure platform that is reliable, scalable, performant, secure and productive.
- Maintaining and optimizing our databases including Postgres, Elasticsearch, Redis, and GCP Serverless Databases.
- Building availability metrics, alerts and dashboards
- Guiding service operational maturity by building reliable solutions, training product engineering squad and operational best practices.
- Reducing toil for engineering squads by writing automation.
- Helping build SRE practice
You’ll work with these technologies:
- Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP, AWS
- PostgreSQL, Redis, Pub/Sub, Elasticsearch
- Ruby on Rails, Golang
Your Experience:
- You prefer taking projects from inception to completion and are outcome oriented.
- You act with empathy when partnering with fellow engineers and coworkers.
- You have 5+ years experience in building consumer-facing web infrastructure in a dynamic development environment.
- You are passionate about building simple and fault-tolerant infrastructure.
- You are interested or experienced in observability practices and how that can enable organizations.
- You have experience working in distributed, performant, at-scale backend systems.
- You are strong in Operations, but have passion and knowledge in automation and backend engineering.
- You appreciate good documentation and procedures.
Compensation Range:
$110,320-$190,990
For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
