Your role  

Reporting to the global head of cloud security and kinetic cyber operations at IHS Markit, your work will focus primarily on creating new user interfaces for the Global Cloud Security Team’s various data- and threat- oriented platforms. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining highly visual and dynamic interfaces used by the cloud security team, the larger information security organization, as well as the product teams within IHS Markit. 

Emphasis will be on the following objectives:  

• Helping the Global Cloud Security Team develop scalable applications with rich user experience for usage by different security and product personas 

• Implementing best practices for developing highly performant frontends on AWS 

• Creating authentication mechanisms to integrate with IHS Markit Identity Providers (IdPs) 

• Building APIs to interact with current datastores and existing backend technologies 

• Iterative design of user experience flows and presentation to an internal cross-functional team and senior internal stakeholders 

Your expertise  

You have   

• 3-5 years of professional front end development around user experience, primarily on AWS Cloud technologies 

• Expertise with developing authentication flows using Amazon Cognito and AWS IAM, experience integrating with Azure AD is highly desired 

• Experience developing web services using Python or NodeJS 

• Experience with developing in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one or more relevant front-end frameworks (ReactJS is highly preferred) is mandatory 

• Experience with view layout and rendering technologies (e.g., responsiveness, progressive enhancement, browser/device support) 

• Experience working with AWS technologies such as RDS (Aurora), DynamoDB, CloudFront, Cognito, API Gateway and Lambda 

• Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability and high availability 

• Experience with test frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Jasmine, etc.) and AWS-native developer tools (CodeBuild, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy) is desirable 

• Knowledge of an infrastructure-as-code (IAC) template language such as CloudFormation or Terraform is desirable 

• Agile development experience: familiarity with gathering/writing requirements and User Stories to commit into an increment 

• While not required, experience with developing front ends on top of search (Elasticsearch Service), graph (Amazon Neptune) and business intelligence (Amazon QuickSight) services is highly desired

• Interested in cloud security – while you will be primarily focused on front ends and UX work, a passion for cloud security is desired as there will be opportunities to learn from your fellow cloud security engineers 

• An advocate and a mentor – you can teach junior and senior members of the team about the work you do, contribute thought leadership to your space, and can potentially teach others your craft 

• A naturally curious self-starter - you can deliver on requirements with some limited guidance or supervision, as needed by you and the team  

• A relentless learner - you actively seek to add to your skillset and knowledge base while challenging the status quo to drive efficiency in the team  

• Strong interpersonal skills – you can communicate with a wide range of technical and non-technical teams  

• Insist on the highest standards within the team and actively share your perspectives with the team and the larger information security organization
