As an Engineering Manager working in the Sales Platform team, you will be working on initiatives aimed at helping other teams within Merchant Growth build faster and in a more scalable way, and ultimately helping to bring all of our products into one unified experience for over 3 million merchants (and growing!) globally.

We are building an integrated ecosystem of products such as point of sale, online store, invoicing & accounting and enabling merchants to seamlessly access all products within one powerful mobile app. Whilst leading this team, you’ll play a key part in helping us help drive our engineering roadmap for the Sales & Order platform, working to develop a highly scalable API to create a unified sales & order experience for all our merchants here at SumUp.

  • Engage and improve your team's engineering culture by driving team-strengthening activities, such as offsites, hackathons, cross-team projects and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Support Backend Engineers through regular 1:1s, continuous feedback loops, clear goals and career development plans.
  • Help drive and improve delivery of our platform features together with product managers and engineers.

You’ll be great for this role if;

  • You are willing to “roll up your sleeves” when it comes to coding, and are willing to work with your team on solving complex engineering challenges
  • You’re an expert at JVM-based languages and experienced with microservices architecture, event-driven design, and RESTful APIs.
  • You have experience in people management, mentoring, and the professional development of software engineers
  • You have experience working with event-streaming platforms (such as Kafka)
  • You have relevant experience working with AWS or similar
  • You have experience working with DevOps teams and with tools such as Kubernetes.
  • You're constantly on the lookout for opportunities to experiment and improve our way of working.
  • You are a humble, servant leader

Why you should join SumUp;

  • The opportunity to work remotely or if you wish to experience a new location we offer full relocation assistance for successful candidates
