Are you interested in developing cutting-edge solutions that can help cancer patients and detect harmful pathogens?

If so, read on!

We have part-time and full-time positions open. Please specify your desired track.

The ideal candidate will contribute to building GTM's proprietary bioinformatics pipelines. This will involve building robust pipelines and ad-hoc scripts to analyze massively parallel sequencing (NGS) genomic data and organize the results to enable further analysis. The position requires a quantitative background in order to be able to define the appropriate algorithmic approach for a given problem. The position also requires a deep understanding of biology at the cellular and molecular level so you can interpret the results of your analyses within their biological context. The ability to communicate complex scientific ideas clearly and work well in a team environment is also essential. Prior experience combining novel and existing tools into effective pipelines is a plus. Some UI/UX design experience with Python and/or database work is desirable.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need

  • PhD or MS plus equivalent experience in a quantitative field (e.g. computational/systems biology, biology, physics, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, or related field)

  • A solid understanding of algorithmic approaches to analyze genomic data as well as tools and genome databases. Candidates with working knowledge of genome editing and gene expression/function will be prioritized.

  • Strong experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R or Python for complex data analysis, familiar working in Linux and HPC compute environment.

  • An understanding of the statistical principles, machine learning methods and current best practices in high-throughput molecular data analysis.

  • Experience with building / supporting / using bioinformatic pipelines

  • Ability to quickly conceive and implement custom statistical methods and algorithms and apply them to large data sets

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas with an interdisciplinary team

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Also, We'd Like To See

  • Strong programming ability in Python or R, C++ or Rust also desirable

  • Knowledgeable about OOP concepts in Python.

  • Some UI/UX design

  • Ability to work on cloud infrastructure (Azure)
