About the role
Robinhood is looking for a Research Manager on our Payments team! This team serves users on the other side outside of Stock Investing. It targets focus is to help our users elevate their overall financial literacy, capabilities, and skills. Think of this team as a user's personal financial advisor!
You will lead a group fast-growing and hardworking user experience researchers. Someone who can provide ground breaking direction on research strategy, uplevel their team, and expand on both cross-functional partnerships and dynamic of the current research teams (user research, behavioral insight's research, marketing research). This role reports directly into the Head of Research and would be a key player in our overall Research leadership team.
Research plays an integral role here at Robinhood, and we need transformational leaders who understand the potential of that impact on not only the teams but on the work. As a qualified candidate, you have a proven track record of building and managing teams that deliver high-quality research with measurable business value. You have the ability to become a trusted, strategic partner to product collaborators. You care deeply about people, the work, and your team.
Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Managing, mentoring, and inspiring a team of user researchers as they develop their skills and engage in thorough research
  • Partnering with team lead to communicate and demonstrate the value of user research in the work we do
  • Providing guidance on programs of research and/or individual studies, and setting expectations for quality and impact
  • Ensuring your team is building the right portfolio of projects to optimize for both business and product goals, and personal growth
  • Leading and representing your team effectively through strong cross-functional relationships - substantiating the work and the decisions behind them, and advocating for a user-centered framing of company strategy and product building
  • Accelerating team efficiency by improving processes and workflows with the research team and cross-functional teams
  • Building out your own team as we rapidly scale now and beyond
  • Working closely with Behavioral Insights and Marketing Research leadership


About you:

  • Demonstrated experience managing UX research teams that include ranges of backgrounds
  • Proven experience in an applied research setting, and/or product research and development
  • Deep knowledge of and applied experience with research, including foundational, iterative, and evaluative; the relative merits of different methods and when to apply them during product development
  • Solid understanding of statistics and the principles of experiment design
  • Strategic partnership experience in hiring and building talent
  • Effectiveness in championing, growing, and upskilling researchers; demonstrated record of getting reports promoted
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills, as well as keen attention to detail
  • A high degree of self-awareness
  • Ability to think big and understand sophisticated problems, and to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
