Parsyl Inc. is an early-stage, venture-backed technology platform that helps shippers, retailers and insurers understand the quality conditions of products as they move through the supply chain.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As Parsyl’s first Product Designer, you will have the unique opportunity to design and deliver products that have a significant impact on the world. Your designs will help answer questions like: “Should I give this vaccine to a child?” and “Is this seafood safe to eat?”.

As an early member of a fast-growing startup, you will wear many hats, from user research to building high-fidelity prototypes to supporting the design of marketing materials. You will see both the big picture of Parsyl’s road map, as well as make critical, tactical decisions that will drive our evolution and growth.

You are a good fit for this position if you are a strategic thinker that is also driven to get every pixel right. You have shipped multiple successful web and mobile products, and have played a lead role in several of them. You are highly motivated and are inspired by our mission to reduce waste and improve health for people across the globe.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deeply understand your users through exploratory research and usability tests.

• Work with product, engineering, and other key stakeholders to define both the long-term strategy and the short-term solutions.

• Present work in a range of mediums and fidelities throughout the design process.

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop and expand our design system.

• Design product flows, sketches, and high-fidelity visuals and prototypes.

• Work in close collaboration with and present your work to customers, engineering, product, and other key stakeholders throughout feature definition and refinement process.

• Support engineering during implementation to ensure a high-quality user experience.

• Shape future of product design at Parsyl by developing product design best practices, providing hiring input, and mentoring junior product designers.

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years experience in product design, user testing and research, UX / interaction design, and visual design

• A strong portfolio of product design work illustrating many successfully launched products

• Able to take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something useful and valuable

• Able to turn complex requirements into clean, simple user experiences

• Experience building and shipping web and mobile products

• Experience working closely with engineering teams

• Excitement about working in an environment of fast feedback loops and a mindset of rapid prototyping and iteration

• Expert understanding and application of user-centered design methods and principles

• Extraordinary communication and leadership skills, including the ability to clearly explain design decisions

• Passion for information design and data visualization

• Ready and willing to get your hands dirty and wear many hats in a fast-paced and ever changing startup environment

• Primarily motivated by sense of mission and purpose
