Manager, Technical Design
The Map Production Manager is responsible for effectively managing Engrain's Map Production processes and our rapidly growing map production team. This requires maintenance of technical documentation, guidelines and procedures as well as exceptional attention to detail in facilitating quality control of team output and the resulting map product(s). This is a leadership position in which providing guidance toward successful product delivery, adapting processes as needed to meet strategic needs and project & process prioritization are necessary. The Map Production Manager must consistently assess and report on individual & team output and skill level in order to make recommendations to upper management on leveraging talent to achieve company goals. This role requires 2+ years of experience in the software development industry, 2+ years of experience in managing a team of eight or more direct reports and expert level Adobe Illustrator skills. Experience with geospatial data and/or map application/software is a plus.

Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Provide consistent direction, communication, guidance and mentorship to a team of varied experience-level technical illustrators (who produce data imagery for geolocation purposes, Engrain's "Map Production Team")
- Relay expectations, objectives, priorities, tasks and issues to the Map Production Team
- Lead Map Production Team to successfully implement maps to specification and consistently meet critical milestones
- Ensure team member (and contracted resources’) compliance of established methodologies and production best practices
- Ensure team remains well informed of new processes and best practices
- Resolve day-to- day operation and employee performance issues as they arise
- Track and manage team performance, time allocations, and quality per company objectives
- Implement quantitative KPIs to monitor team and individual performance
- Proactively anticipate and identify potential risks and issues that may impact deliverables, as well as develop and implement mitigation and corrective action
- Serve as a primary point of escalation for project timeline, resource or scheduling conflicts
- Coordinate with Senior Leadership and Product Development to translate technical requirements into manageable and efficient workflows
- Develop, monitor, and improve key processes crucial to team development and production pipeline
- Consistently assess team member skills and output against company growth plans to make strategic recommendations
- Play a key role in recruiting, hiring and developing Map Production talent
- Manage 10+ individuals within the Map Production Team which is projected to double by year’s end
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the market, industry trends, and core technologies
