VP of Data Mgmt, Machine Learning & Analytics
Summary
The Vice President of Data Platform, Machine Learning and Analytics is responsible for developing and driving corporate data and machine learning (ML) strategy and deliver outcomes to enable Workiva's growth strategy. This role owns the development and delivery of the data platform in addition to identifying and driving ML outcomes that will power Workiva’s growth. In this capacity, this role will work closely with the executive team in setting the roadmap, analyzing and defining the projects and executing on them.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with executive management and business stakeholders to assess current and develop future data strategy, while leveraging new technologies to deliver data-centric outcomes.
- Collaborate with business unit and product leaders to develop and take-to-market ML powered solutions that solve major customer problems.
- Build cutting edge and industry defining advanced ML features in Workiva products.
- Co-evangelize with product leadership Workiva’s unique ML capabilities to inspire customers and market analysts and attract top AI/ML talent
- Drive technology decisions regarding ML platforms and tools required for successful implementations of ML solutions aligned to Workiva’s strategy
- Drive enterprise data management strategy for ML, data engineering, data management, data governance, data integrations, and enterprise reporting
- Build data roadmap to ensure proper application of enterprise data
- Evaluate emerging technology solutions to support internal stakeholders with enterprise data
- Define and implement infrastructure that supports rapid data-discovery, experimentation and hypothesis validation. Lead adoption of data discovery and data science capabilities
- Lead Cloud data and Cloud platform management
- Build a strong data sciences, data engineering and machine learning team by locating and recruiting strong talent. Be at the forefront of development of self and team's AI/ML acumen.
- Identify tools needed to expand data literacy & proficiency.
- Prioritize and execute business needs around data-driven insights.
- Build and manage data governance and change management processes to ensure compliance.
What You'll Need
Education
- Graduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- 15+ years of experience leading, designing, delivering with data architecture, data platforms, or analytics solutions
- 7+ years leading large, diverse teams in delivering products using state-of-the-art AI/ML systems
- 10+ years of experience in Strategy/Ideation as well as Execution/Take to Market of which 4 + years should be directly in AM/ML hands-on leadership and expertise
- AI/ML & Data Analytics Leadership experience
- Experience in leading product development in the early product lifecycle stages (Concept to V0, V1).
- Skilled in managing a broad innovation funnel, through rapid experimentation, hypothesis testing and validation.
- Enterprise SaaS experience preferred
- Proven experience managing cloud data platform required
- Experience creating and scaling ML models successfully for production use by enterprise customers.
- Experience in data and data discoverability tools development
Skills
- Ability to create and manage strategy to communicate how data can be utilized to support overall business goals and objectives.
- Outcome oriented strategy and leadership, with a proven track record of building and managing data processes.
- Direct understanding of the machine learning landscape, including experience delivering capabilities that leverage deep learning technologies
- Ability to collaborate with and influence executive leadership to create and market strategy to internal teams.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate across the organization, with all levels of leadership and management.
- Proven track record of leading and developing team members in breakthrough goals and strategy.
- Familiarity with the lean-startup methodology, along with experience and expertise in managing early stage data-centric products.
- Ability to balance consistent delivery of short-term value and outcomes, while advancing strategic, long-term enterprise goals around data and machine learning.
Travel Requirement
- Up to 15%
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.
How You'll be Rewarded
- Base Pay Range in Colorado: 250,000 - 300,000
- A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
- Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
