Senior Engineering Manager – Mechanical Engineering Operations

This is an exciting new position within the Mechanical Engineering Department (MechS) to shape and drive our strategic execution improvements to meet the needs of Ball Aerospace’s expanding business.

What You’ll Do:

• Be an active member of the MechS leadership team.
• Map, measure, train and continuously improve the MechS Value Stream (proposal through hardware delivery).
• Work with Execution (Product) Areas, Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Strategic Support Units (SSUs) to ensure on-budget, on-schedule delivery of MechS products including cross-product area prioritization and resource conflict resolution.
• Drive creation and utilization of insightful/actionable reports, metrics, analytics and standard best practices to manage operations, track performance and enable quick cost/schedule health checks.
• Forecast and communicate capacity and capability needs (production staff, facilities, capital, supply chain, etc.).
• Conceive, propose, and lead strategic initiatives to address systemic issues, facilitate mechanical product development/assembly, integration, and test (AI&T), and improve cost/schedule performance.
• Support and shape MechS proposal content including risk and opportunity identification.
• Establish and evolve forums to review MechS execution performance.
• Support evolution of Make/Buy strategy and MechS implementation.
• Establish and maintain highly effective relationships across the team and enterprise.
• Bring a new perspective to how we do business.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

• BS/BA in related field plus 15 years or more related experience.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• Operations, program, project, cost and schedule management experience. Knowledge and application of Earned Value principles preferred.
• Experience through the full lifecycle of aerospace mechanical products from proposal through AI&T.
• Demonstrated commitment to the identification, development and deployment of process improvements. Knowledge and application of Six Sigma principles preferred.
• Experience effectively interfacing with Programs, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, etc.
• Excellent collaboration, influencing, decision making, relationship building and communication (written/verbal/presentation) skills.
• A current, active TS/SCI security clearance preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

• HIRING SALARY RANGE: $171,000 - $235,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
