IT Engineer II - Systems Administrator
Job Description
Major Activities (Purpose/Summary)
The IT Engineer II is responsible for supporting Enterprise systems and services. This position also responsible for monitoring and maintaining systems that run these services, participate in planning capacity, help employees with Enterprise service problems and provide expertise to keep the services running over the network at all Vertafore sites.
Job Responsibilities
• Provides expertise, support and direction on corporate Enterprise services including active directory integrations, email, and internal Enterprise application backend services
• Responsible for the uptime (and troubleshooting) on key Enterprise systems and services
• Responsible for capacity planning, functionality planning, and rollout of key Enterprise services
• Works closely with all employees on issues occurring on key Enterprise systems and services
• Works closely with all other IT staff to support in-house and corporate technology objectives.
• Supports the IT department management with planning, administration, and execution of corporate and service level policies and initiatives on all levels
• Primarily responsible for installation, configuration, repair and replacement system required to run key Enterprise systems and services
• Responsible for supporting upgrades to new versions of services based on best practices and supported platforms
• Responsible for overseeing, advising and mentoring junior staff members
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Ability to work independently on projects and daily activities
Technology
• Experience with Microsoft server networking, permissions, security, and active directory
• Experience with the cloud services including, email systems (O365/Exchange), OneDrive and Sharepoint
• Experience with PC hardware, including desktop, notebook (laptop) and severs
• Experienced in best practices for the use of a distributed Microsoft network
• Experience with Microsoft desktop applications and operating systems and how they interact with Microsoft networks
• Lync/Skype for Business, OneDrive, Sharepoint and Exchange including Office 365 and Teams integration
• Global GPO Management
Skills & Requirements
• Minimum of five years administering Microsoft server operating systems including active directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell scripting, backend integration services
• Minimum of 5 years supporting Exchange or O365 including ADFS Authentication Services
• Minimum five years in configuration and troubleshooting of workstation hardware and peripherals
• Prefer skills that include: PowerShell Scripting, SSO Federation, TLS Protocols, EOP Management, DKIM and SPF, Radius Authentication Management, Certificate Management and Implementation
• Demonstrate ability to support Merger and Acquisition integrations
Demonstrates ability to apply professional engineering principles and skills:
• Performs formal system design bases on IS management methodologies
• Applies Quality Control and Quality Assurance principles
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to individuals varying various technical ability
Documentation and Training
• Writes and maintains complete and concise technical project documentation
• Presents training presentations on multiple technical levels
• BA/BS in Computer Science or related degree preferred
• Professional Certifications a plus
