Patient Collection Specialist

How you'll make an impact
You will be responsible for all patient collection starting with ensuring client credit card charges are successful, to outreaching clients with outstanding balances. Patient Collection Specialists give SonderMind leaders extreme comfort that money is being collected, providers are being paid, clients are being charged and refunded in a timely and ever-improving manner. As part of the Revenue Operations team, you will be improving the patient collections process and aim to deliver company collection goals, and deliver an ever-improving customer service experience for Providers & Clients.
Success looks like
Within 1-2 weeks, be able to understand the full patient collection cycle including learning processes, adapting tools, and become familiarized with the collection workflow
Within 4 weeks, be able to communicate directly with clients in regard to outstanding balances, and verify balances owed are accurate; dive into rescheduling failed patient charges, upload clients to an outside collection vendor.
Within 2 months, be able to see positive accounts receivable collection improvements through patient collection efforts and be able to identify and suggest improvements in revenue workflow efficiency with the company goal to increase collections rates greater than 95%
What you'll do
- Schedule failed patient Credit Card charges
- Call and email patients with high outstanding balances to recoup payment
- Report patients to a third-party collection agency
- Oversee the patient collection process from the generation of a balance due to the collection of payment
- Innovate the patient collection process

Required Experience
- Knowledge of insurance plans and contractual arrangements affecting payments
- 1+ years of direct customer service in the healthcare industry or related field
- Demonstrated accounts receivable experience in patient collections
- Comfort and interest in working in a fast-paced, ever evolving environment
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated success in revenue-cycle innovation
- Experience in a start-up environment
- Self-motivated and driven
- Expert Excel skills
