About the Role

As a Technical Writer at Tropic, you will play a pivotal role in creating and maintaining comprehensive product documentation and knowledge base content that is logical, intuitive, and easy to navigate. You will work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to ensure that accurate and user-friendly documentation is available to support our customers. Your ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging content will be essential in helping our users succeed.

What You'll Do

  • Documentation Development: Develop comprehensive documentation that adheres to organizational standards, including user manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
  • Content Clarity: Gain a deep understanding of our products and services and translate complex information into clear, polished, and engaging content that meets the needs of our target audience.
  • User-Centric Content: Write user-friendly content that focuses on user success, effectively turning insights and technical details into language that our users can easily understand.
  • Reference Material Management: Develop and maintain a detailed database of reference materials, including research findings, usability test results, and design specifications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement, ensuring that documentation remains up-to-date and relevant.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with various departments, including Product and Engineering, Solution Consultants, Customer Success Managers, and Implementation, to understand project requirements and gather information from subject-matter experts.
  • Repository Management: Work with development and support leads to identify the best documentation and knowledge base repositories, revise and edit existing content, and determine optimal solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
  • Information Architecture: Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards, facilitating easy data migration and content organization.
  • Alternative Media: Develop content in alternative media forms, such as videos or interactive guides, to enhance usability while maintaining a consistent voice across all documentation.

What You’ve Done

  • 3+ years of experience in a Technical Writer role at a SaaS company. 
  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to create user-friendly, technical documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise content.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and present information in a structured and accessible manner.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools and software, as well as the ability to adapt to new tools and technologies (Zendesk knowledge base experience is a huge plus!)
  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product and Engineering.
  • Strong research skills to gather technical information and insights from subject-matter experts.
  • Experience in information architecture and database management is a plus.
  • Commitment to delivering accurate and timely documentation to support customer success.

Compensation

Specific to pay transparency laws, the minimum annual salary for this position is $110,000 and may also include commission, incentive pay, incentive stock options, and benefits. The final job level and compensation will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and other business considerations.
