Position Summary:

Our Instructional Designers (IDs) design and develop curriculum for Pax8. They create eLearning modules and knowledge assessments for our Learning Management System (LMS) and content that supports learning, such as job aids, videos, animations, role plays, games, slide decks, etc. IDs manage the entire course development lifecycle--determining needs and learning objectives, gathering requisite information from stakeholders and SMEs, identifying concepts to be conveyed, designing and delivering effective courses and assessments efficiently and on schedule, uploading to the LMS, assigning learners, and reporting project status along the way. They monitor course effectiveness, make iterative improvements as needed, and perform any required subsequent maintenance and updates. The ID works closely with the Manager of Learning Development and key stakeholders to identify and implement training programs that support our business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):


Percentage of Time Spent:


  1. Works closely with stakeholders and subject matters experts (SMEs), identifies key business objectives, critical behaviors, and leading indicators in order to align training with business outcomes - 15%
  2. Gathers information to apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods to design eLearning courses that help learners adopt desired behaviors, conveys the required information in a clear and engaging manner, assesses understanding, and measures effectiveness. Translates technical training requirements into an eLearning curriculum that can easily be maintained through time - 25%
  3. Leverages best practices to visualize and create the user interface, instructional graphics, exercises, and activities that enhance the learning process (audio, video, simulations, animations, role plays, games etc.). Crafts assessment questions and distracters to align with learning objectives and desired outcomes - 40%
  4. Uploads course content to company LMS, enters and maintains project documentation and course folders - 10%
  5. Updates and maintains courses to ensure continued relevance and accuracy - 10%

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • At least five (5) years of instructional design and curriculum development experience is required
  • Passion for enabling others to be successful
  • Requisite investigative and people skills to work effectively with stakeholders and SMEs
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory concepts
  • Experience working with a commercial LMS is preferred
  • Experience with Articulate Rise and Articulate Storyline 360, or similar authoring tools required
  • Experience with Camtasia, Vyond, and Descript preferred
  • Technical sales training or technical product training experience is preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of tools, principles, and best practices for developing technical training course materials
  • Must be highly motivated, self-starter, with the ability to quickly pivot with new concepts
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously, while being a collaborative problem solver
  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of assessment, evaluation, and effectiveness-measurement methods

Required Education & Certifications:

  • B.A./B.S. (Master’s degree preferred) in Education/Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related field, or Instructional Design certificate with equivalent work experience

Work Environment:

Professional office environment.  Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, printers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands:

Sedentary role; primarily involves sitting/standing

Travel Requirements:

Infrequent travel is expected of this position

Compensation:

Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $78,000 or more depending on experience

*Note: Compensation is benchmarked on local Denver Metro area market rates. Qualified candidates in other locations can expect a salary package that may be adjusted based off applicable cost of wages in their respective location.
